Sneakin' Up

This stamp just makes me giggle. I have some nephews..okay and a few men I know that would do this exact thing! Boys will be boys as they say.

My card today features an older High Hopes stamp called Sneakin' Up (can be found here). I haven't put a sentiment on the front and at this point the inside is blank until I have an occasion to need a more masculine card.

I coloured my stamp with alchohol markers, sponged the sky and added some faux stitching with a brown marker. I double matted the, added my patterned paper and layered some banners. Some gumdrops, leather lace and a cute silver frog charm finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Patterned Paper: Fern and Forest - Little Yellow Bicycle
Leather Lace: from my stash
Dies: Fishtail Banner Dies - Your Next Stamp
Enamel Dots: Gumdrops - Your Next Stamp
Frog Charm: Fashion Accessories (Len's Mill Stores)

Now the question is..............do you think our friendly little dragon ended up catching the frog.....

Purrr-ty Great Day

I used to have a cat named Smokey who absolutely LOVED popcorn for a treat - I always took the kernel part off first. I couldn't sit there eating some for long before he was on the back of the love seat batting at my hand because he wanted some.

Popcorn Kitty (can be found here) brought back some fun happy memories for me for sure. Smokey would have loved to be immersed in his own bowl of popcorn!

I coloured Popcorn Kitty with alcohol markers and then mounted him on a green cardstock "frame". I used the heart paper to cut out my scalloped edge for the base, added my checkered paper and a stitched scallop border. I also added a piece of checkered paper to the inside edge and inked all the edges.  I used some yellow twine to finish off my card.  This layout is one I came up with quite awhile ago and it came together quickly because I had cut extra pieces the first time around and labelled them with sizes for cutting.

Welcome to Paradise

Every once and awhile I get a special request to make a card for someone who a) I really don't know and b) to use a specific picture.

This card felt kind of weird to do - after all, I didn't have to colour a stamp! It was fun to do something different. I had to remind myself that the picture was technically my "stamp" when I was doing the layout.

The person I did the card for is moving out of the area to a street (I think) called "Paradise".
The card will be filled with gift certificates and well wishes from all of us in a horse group I belong to.

Card Recipe
Patterned Paper: Creative Imaginations
Cardstock
Sentiment: Computer - Century Gothic font
Twine: American Crafts
Eyelets & charms: from my stash
Dies: Fishtail Banner dies - Your Next Stamp

Here's hoping she likes her card! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Dude!

I often joke around with my now 14 year old nephew and when I do I call him "Dude". He is quite athletic and likes to keep busy so I think Dudley and his surf board are perfect for him.

My card  includes two High Hopes Stamps: Surfer Dude Dudley can be found here and Wave Border which can be found here, to create my scene.

I coloured Dudley using alcohol markers and paper pieced his surf board. I think Dudley would have the coolest board on the beach don't you? I masked him off  to stamp my wave border, coloured the beach and added real sand to create the beach. The sky background was stamped with ink and a sponge. I finished my card off with a cool pair of sunglasses, a sun and some bright yellow gum drops.

Card Recipe
Patterned Paper: Sunkissed - Doodle Bug Designs
Ink: Sea Lavender - Martha Stewart
Sand: Activa (Micheals)
Cardstock: Bazzill
Sunglasses, Sun: Jolee's Boutique stickers
Enamel Dots; Yellow Gumdrops - Your Next Stamp

Tummy, Spots, Horns: CT1 CT2 CT4
Waves: BT4 BT8 BT7

Dudley sure is one cool dude! Thanks for stopping by!

Home Tweet Home

I hope you are all having a good summer! We have been having some crazy hot weather where I live so it's a perfect time to be indoors in my craft room.

Today I am using Fancy Birdhouse 2 for my card. I have a few people in my life who either have moved or will be moving to new homes. I kept this card on the flat side (no pop up dots - gasp!) because I will likely end up mailing it - once I have new addresses of course!

After colouring and fussy cutting my stamp I mounted it on some light blue cardstock. I ran my "sky" through an embossing folder to add some texture and interest to the "sky". I cut out some clouds with a die and ran one cloud through my printer to print my sentiment. I added a fence, some grass and a few brads from my stash.
