Flakey Friends

Every once and awhile as time permits, I love participating in challenges.

Sometimes you get a stamp and you get all these ideas bopping around in your head and when you have time you just have to get them out.

This morning, after all my dog sitting duties were done I was able to make this card to participate in the "December Challenge - Ribbon/and or Lace" in the Miss Daisy Create and Share Facebook group I belong to.

I chose to use the "Flakey Friends" digital stamp for this challenge, a sentiment from another Miss Daisy stamp and some WR3 digital paper I won in a previous challenge. Phew...lots of digital going on with this one

After printing out my digital stamp I coloured it with alcohol markers and added some glitter to the snow and cut it out with a stitched square die.
I chose the patterned paper I wanted, printed it out and cut it to fit the layout idea I had bouncing around in my brain.
Next I sized my sentiment, printed it and cut it out with a fishtail banner die. I used the same die to cut out the grey layer of cardstock to put behind it.
Some ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Snowman Hot Tub

                    Happy New Year......almost.....High Hopes Fans!

For today's post I used an older stamp from High Hopes called "Snow Yummy".
I had fun with this one ......especially coming up with a name for the card. I wanted to keep the card layout fairly simple on this one so this fun stamp would be the focus of the card.

I guess this is what snow people do to relax.....sit in a cup of hot chocolate...

I coloured up my stamp with alcohol markers, fussy cut it out adn popped him up with pop dots. The cup is paper pieced with paper from an older 6x6 pad of Bo Bunny paper. I also fussy cut the snowflake in the  - yes I am breaking in my new cuticle scissors with this one - and added a drop of silver moondust Nuvo crystal drops to the middle of it.
The sentiment is stamped directly on the snow hills - yes I held my breath and stamped lol.
Stitched snow hills were cut out using a die along with the fence. Some ribbon from my stash and some more Nuvo crystal drops finish off my card.

Sparkle And Cheer

Happy New Year One Crazy Stamper Fans!

The hustle and bustle of Christmas is technically over but if you're like me, I don't get to see some of the special people in my life until after Christmas.
My god daughter is one of those special people who I will see soon.

She loves hedgehogs so I used the "Kovu and Hootie" stamp from the new Woodland Friends new release at High Hopes for her Christmas card.
Bear with me......this is my last Christmas card to share for now.

Inside

I coloured these cuties using alcohol markers and then cut them out with a circle die. A white gel pen added some polka dots to their scarves and cheeks and some Hero Arts glitter added some bling to the snow.
Next, I dusted off my Cricut to cut out the red background with a scallop edge to mount my circle on. This was added to some fun plaid paper and a ribbon and some sparkly gumdrops finish it off.
I added some plaid paper to the outside edge and finished off the inside leaving just enough room to include a personal, handwritten message.

All Hearts

Merry Christmas to our High Hopes Fans and all of my blog followers!

We celebrated Christmas with my family this past Sunday. It is always hard because I have a sister and brother and their families out West who weren't able to be here - but it is always fun to put a package together for them and race the mail to get it to them in time!

This stamp from High Hopes reminds me of my family and how all of our hearts come together at Christmas.

We all know our hearts are joined every day, but even more so at this time of year.

Meet "Homespun Hearts Snowy". I have also used the "All Hearts" sentiment both from High Hopes. I think this is a great winter stamp that could be used for winter cards too but I chose to use it for Christmas.

I coloured the snowman with alcohol markers and fussy cut him out. It is hard to see in the picture but I added a clear sparkle pen to all of the hearts.
A couple weeks ago I literally broke the scissors I use to fussy cut so I am breaking in a new pair. Next I cut a white circle and ran it through a snowflake embossing folder to create my background. I cut my patterned paper pieces and mounted them on cardstock. The sentiment is stamped and the hearts are coloured with alcohol makers. Some cotton lace and gumdrops finish off the card. The snowman was added at the end and he is popped up with pop dots.

Good Times

Merry Christmas OCS Fans!

We are only four days away from Christmas - can you believe it!?

We have officially experienced our first "significant snowfall" of the season so I though it was appropriate to use the "Singing Crazy Birds" stamp from the new release.

It's a good thing they have their hats and scarves on with the weather that has arrived!

After colouring these cuties up with alcohol markers I cut them out with a stitched oval die. I used this month's challenge sketch for my card layout (below). The sentiment - also from the new release - was stamped and cut out with a stitched oval to match. All of this cuteness was mounted onto cardstock and added to patterned paper base. Some floss and gumdrops finish off my card. Glitter snow was added to the snow on the branch and the pom poms on their hats - kinda hard to see but sparkly in real life.

Christmas Kitty

Gah! I can't believe it is Thursday already and only a couple weeks until Christmas!

I am in Christmas card making overdrive! My post today is my Besties Christmas card. She loves cats and has also had a crazy year so this older stamp from High Hopes called "Callie Christmas Kitty" is perfect for her card.

Cute Callie is coloured with alcohol markers and cut out with a stitched rectangle die. I am new to the flicking technique with my markers but I tried it on the tree branch. I need some more practice! I added silver wink of stella to the ornaments, some glitter ribbon and some holly and sparkly gumdrops. The candy canes were added to the bow for fun. My card layout is based on this month's challenge sketch (photo below).

You Make Me Smile

Happy Hump Day OCS Fans!

For my post today I used "Fish Kiss" and the "You Make Me Smile" sentiment from the new Woodland Friends release at High Hopes Stamps.

My card layout is based on the sketch from the November OCS challenge. I love sketches - they can be used over and over again when you're in a pinch or even when you're not

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and then cutting it out with a classic circle die. I added some freckles to the bears face with a brown marker and a cheek and freckles to the fish with a white gel pen and alcohol marker just for fun.

Then I layed out my card base using cardstock and patterned paper from Echo Park and Lawn Fawn. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out in a matching circle shape. Some photo corners, ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Seeds Fish Kiss (TT064) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Christmas Moon

I am still plugging away at Christmas cards. Sometimes, you see a stamp you just have to have because not only does it speak to your cheeky side (pardon the pun) if you have one but there are also more then a few people on my list this stamp would be perfect for.

I will have to see who's on my naughty list......to see who will get this CAS card created with the "Tight Squeeze" digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps.

I wanted to keep the layout very clean and simple on this one because I really wanted the stamp to stand out.

I coloured the stamp with alcohol markers and then fussy cut around the top edge. I created my sky with Distress Ink and added white acrylic paint for my snow. The moon was temporarily put on while I did the sky and then I added some pale yellow ink to it along with a few reindeer - guess they're leaving Santa high and dry! Some glitter snow, sparkly gumdrops and a scripted sentiment finish off my card.

Stamp: Tight Squeeze - Whimsy Stamps

Baked With Love

I wanted to pop in quickly to show you the Christmas card I made for my sister.

Over the last year or so, my sister has found her passion ... baking!
Here a few pictures of her Christmas cookies........super talented right?!?

So, I set out to find the perfect stamp for her Christmas card.

I found Baker Wryn from Tiddly Inks Stamps. She comes with a table with bowls on it too but I chose not to use it this time for my card.

I started by printing my digital stamp and colouring it with alcohol markers. I sketched holly and berries on her hat just for fun. After colouring it I cut it out using a stitched oval die and mounted it on a cardstock oval. I added it to a die cut doily and my patterned paper. Some fun baking embellishments were added as well as some ribbon and enamel dots. The sentiment was stamped and then cut out with a fishtail banner die.

Stamp: Baker Wryn - Tiddly Inks Stamps

Winter Wonderland With A Twist

                                  Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans!

Am I the only one who is working feverishly to get Christmas cards done?

I have a couple of pre-teen, early teen age nephews I have to make cards for......and on their wish lists are money and gift cards along with a ton of other things of course!

I didn't want to make a card and just stick a gift card inside so I did the layout below...........with a twist! I made a pocket inside to hold the gift card or money depending on what I decide to give.

Inside

As usual, I started by colouring my image with alcohol markers. I fussy cut Rudolph's scarf and added Stickles to the snow drops on the background paper and the trim on Santa's hat and suit. The image is fussy cut and put on a background of snow banks and die cut trees. The sentiment is stamped directly on to the snow. Rudolph's nose is coloured with a sparkly red marker which is hard to see in the photo.

Then, I grabbed my patterned paper and cut out the pieces I needed and stamped Santa for a second time on the part of the card my handwritten message will go.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Reindeer Games (S108) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Winter Wonderland (H230), Sm. Christmas Script (F051) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

What Friends Are For

I have a confession... I am having way too much fun playing with the new Woodland Friends release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps!

It is fun to work with winter images that are all about friends and friendship!

My card today features: "Seeds Of Friendship" and the "Friends Are For" sentiment from the new release.

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and then cutting it out with a stitched rectangle die. I added some Liquid Applique for the snow. While that dried so I could apply heat to puff it up, I grabbed my patterned paper.

I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a fishtail banner die. I cut another banner in my cardstock colour and added it.

I cut out the pieces for my layout and once the applique was dry, I puffed it up and added it to my card. I added a flower and some die cut leaves and some gumdrops - my fav!

Stamp: Seeds Of Friendship (TT065) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Peace Love Joy

I am still plugging away at my Christmas cards, I will be honest. I should be done by now but I love to be able to find the perfect stamp for my loved ones to use on their card.

It could be their favourite animal, a hobby or just something I know means alot to them. This is true for the "Star Of Bethlehem digital stamp from the Whimsy Digital Shop - it is perfect for my parents.

My stamp is coloured with alcohol markers ....and here is a confession for ya. I had no intention of fussy cutting any part of this stamp but when I messed up the sky background for the third time, honestly - I wasn't going to colour it again. So, I fussy cut part of the stamp and let some patterned paper become my sky background. Phew, glad that's off my chest!

Now, back to my card! I coloured the star with alcohol markers and gold Wink of Stella to give it a little glimmer. Some gold trim ribbon and some gold crystal drops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Star Of Bethlehem, Crissy Armstrong - Whimsy Stamps Digital Shop
Patterned Paper: Winter Wishes - Whimsy Stamps
Gold Wink of Stella, Honey Gold Nuvo Crystal Drops, Celebrate It Ribbon, Copic XpressIt Cardstock
