Shower Of Love

Welcome back High Hopes Fans! I hope you're having a good week!

We have been experiencing warm, higher then normal temperatures where I live. Nice considering it's January, not so nice because it has meant freezing rain and rain are usually on the weather menu.

Since we have been having so much rain I decided playing with "Shower of Love" was kind of an appropriate stamp to play with this week. I think this stamp could be used for a number of different occasions like a wedding, bridal shower or Valentine's Day to name a few.

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I cut it out using a stitched rectangle die - I love the stitched look on my cards!
After cutting a piece of matching blue cardstock I ran it through my Big Kick to add the tiny heart detail in the corner. I used a banner die for my heart in the corner and used the larger heart cut out from that as an embellishment. The tiny heart from was added to my banner die and voila! A masculine colour/feel  Valentine's Day card.

Stamp: Shower Of Love (R144) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Love Never Fails

I am happy to have one more card to share this month using a super cute image from the new Live, Love, Laugh release at High Hopes.
Sometimes a month isn't enough time to play with all the fun new images in a new release!

Today's card introduces you to "Kovu & Fred" and the "Love Never Fails" sentiment. This image and sentiment are perfect not only for Valentine's Day but for a card for a friend or a spring theme - so many options..so little time

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers then cut it out using a stitched oval die. Some pale blue clouds were added using a cloud die cut and some ink. The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a stitched square die. Some pink hearts, twine and my favourite - gumdrops - were added to finish off my card.

Sending Smiles - GDT Inspired By All The Little Things

I am so excited!!! I was asked by the super talented Karen Day to be a guest designer on the Inspired By All The Little Things challenge blog and I have to say I am beyond honoured to say the least!

Here is the inspiration photo I got to play along with.

And here is my card inspired by the photo.

I was inspired by the pink and grey colours but also the soft pinks and delicate flowers and buds in the background.

I have had this stamp for a little while now and haven't inked it up yet but when I saw this photo I knew it was perfect for this challenge.

I started by colouring my image with alcohol markers and then cut it out with a circle die. The scallop edge was cut out with my Cricut and the sentiment was stamped as well.
Some twine and sparkly gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Spring Time - Wee Stamps - Whimsy Stamps
Sentiment: Everyday Sentiments - Whimsy Stamps
Patterned Paper: Bundle Of Joy - Echo Park
White gel pen, Classic Circles die - Spellbinders, Antique Linen Distress Ink, White Sugar and Sparkle, Magical Pastel Sparkly gumdrops - YNS, Twine - American Crafts.

Spectrum Noir Markers: EB6 EB5 1G1 1G2 BT1 BT3 PP1 PP3 CT4 FS6 FS8
Copics: E37 B00

I was also asked some questions about myself - it is so hard to answer some of these but it was fun.

What is the name of your blog? When and why did you start it?
My blog is called: kardsbykrashscrapper.blogspot.ca . Very early in my card making days I realized I needed to have a blog to not only showcase my projects (my first cards leave alot to be desired) but also to participate in challenges. To be honest, it is kind of fun to go back and look at my first cards.......although honestly I would like to redo them all!
The blog itself is named after my horse. I had to say good bye to him about 31/2 years ago but he taught me so many life lessons and inspired me in so many ways I wanted to find a way to honour him.

What is your style of card making?
I am not sure what I would call my card making style. I like to create scenes but I have also recently been pushing myself to work with more layers of patterned paper. I also like to throw a CAS card in there once and awhile just for fun.
With each card I do I really try to keep the focus on the stamp I am using and try to use embellishments that highlight it.

Who inspires you as a designer?
I am quite new in the card making world and still getting my feet wet but one of the first people to inspire me is a very talented stamp artist and card designer - Crissy Armstrong. I not only love her stamps but I also love her card style.

I am also inspired by Karen Dedman at Your Next Stamp. My first challenge card ever was a card I created using a stamp she named after my horse. The rest is history as they say.

I am also inspired by my horse and all the things he taught me and the day to day antics of my dog.

What sort of things inspire you as a card maker? Photos? Sketches? Other designers?
I am inspired by alot of things! It can be everything from a piece of patterned paper, to a stamp, to a card layout by another talented card maker - there really is no easy answer to this question The list goes on but I often find myself looking at a beautiful sunset/sunrise/storm clouds etc and trying to figure out what alcohol markers I would use to recreate the colours I am seeing.......I know - weird right?!?

Share something about yourself that we may not know?
When I was 12 years old I got thrown from a horse and fractured my skull. I spent two weeks in a coma and a year not being able to do anything physical......no horseback riding, no soccer and no beating up my brothers - all things I enjoyed very much!
I love cheesecake - if it's on the menu I'm having some! much to my hubby's dismay the night he proposed to me . I also have a huge weakness for Reese's Peanut Butter cups....especially when they are in a DQ Blizzard.

I hope you have been inspired to come play along with Challenge #40 at Inspired By All The Little Things. I can't wait to see what you create!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a super fantastic day!

Not Horsin Around!

                             Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans!

This week I've been horsin' around (pardon the pun) with another fun Valentine's Day stamp from High Hopes.

I love that the sentiment is included although I had to rearrange my card making routine slightly....after all, I didn't have to find a place for the sentiment! It has been fun to have a bit of a challenge with the process.

This week's card layout is based on an older challenge sketch from High Hopes. I have posted it below my card for you. I also chose to use some non-traditional Valentine's Day colours just for fun!

Here's the sketch I followed

I started my horsin' around by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and then cutting it out with a classic circle die. The background cardstock was cut out using a circle cutter. I placed it on patterned paper from an older 6x6 paper collection from Echo Park. Some twine, banners and gumdrops (my fav) finish off my card.

Stamp: Horsin' Around Horsey (P130) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: This & That - Echo Park

Hugs & Kisses

I hope you are enjoying the design teams incredible makes with the new Live Love Laugh release from High Hopes!

This week I got to play with "Betsy Loves Barney". I had a friend that grew up on a pig farm and we used to have to do the chores every day, twice a day.... and every once and awhile we had to clean out the pens.

Sorry, but I don't remember seeing any pigs in real life that are this cute!!!

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers then cut it out using a stitched oval die. The background oval was cut out with my Cricut......I wasn't going to use it at first because technically it didn't fit properly. But, I kind of like the look of having some colour peaking out on the ends only for something different so I decided to use it.
I added my image to patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket and MME. The sentiment was stamped on some matching cardstock and cut to size. Some corner dies, ribbon and gold heart brads finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Betsy Loves Barney (TT071) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Hugs & Kisses (GG010)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper:  The Sweetest Thing - MME, Tea For Two - Cosmo Cricket

4 Paws and A Wet Nose

Sometimes you just need a therapist! I personally love my therapist. He is all of 10 lbs and cute as a button with just enough "saucy" to keep me on my toes some days.

He also loves to cuddle and when I come home and I pick him up he gives me a "hug" by putting his head on my shoulder and snuggling in to my neck. Doesn't matter what has happened in my day this is the perfect way to end a day!

"Am I Forgiven" digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps reminds my of my little cuddle monster.

After printing my stamp and colouring it with alcohol markers I cut it out with a stitched oval die. I printed my patterned paper and cut it to size. Then, holding my breath, I cut the middle of my card out and added plastic packaging so it is see through. The inside cardstock is cut to size and I added some paw prints down the side. After making my sentiment on my computer I printed it and mounted it on matching cardstock, added my stamped image, some ribbon and enamel dots and voila!

Card Recipe
Stamp: Am I Forgiven digital by Crissy Armstrong - Whimsy Digital Stamps
Patterned Paper: Jolly Holiday digital collection - Whimsy Digital Stamps
Nesting Rounded Rectangles - Whimsy Stamps

You Lifted Me Up

When the creativity train leaves the station, I will often try to make a card for a challenge just to get the train moving back in to the station again - my brain lol.

The Sketch and Colour Challenge at Your Next Stamp fit the bill just perfectly today! I also needed a thank you type card for a dear friend of mine so it was perfect - get a card made and participate in a challenge, it's a win win!

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and paper piecing the heart balloon. Once that was done I cut out my stamp using the matching dies.
I cut out a circle for the sky and added some matching blue paper after running it through a cloud embossing folder.
Next, I took the a stitched hills die to cut the curve in the bottom of my cardstock and added a piece of matching patterned paper (this is a great way to use up pieces of patterned paper left over from other projects).
The card base was assembled using cardstock and patterned paper to match. Then I put my sentiments on an acrylic block, inked it up and held my breath hoping everything would stamp right the first time.
Some ribbon and clear gumdrops finish off my card.

Here is the sketch from Sketch and Colour Challenge #55 at Your Next Stamp

Card Recipe
Stamps: Waddles Rainbow Fun, Waddles Summer Fun (thank you) - YNS
Crystal Clear Gumdrops - YNS
Double Stitched Hills Die - YNS
Patterned Paper: Sunny Days Ahead - Echo Park

Ribbon - from my stash

No Bones About It

Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans! Thursday means it's my day to post some inspiration for you ........and it also means tomorrow is Fri-YAY! The weekend is almost here!

Today my card features "No Bones Doggy" another fun, versatile stamp from High Hopes and the layout is based on this month's challenge sketch.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, these stamps make it a breeze to make a card especially with the sentiment as part of the stamp! Cool right?!?!

Our cute dog friend is coloured with alcohol markers and cut out using a stitched square die. I tilted the cardstock piece behind the image and added some ribbon and a wood heart. The heart is coloured with an alcohol marker to match the card. I used Silver Wink of Stella on his tag and collar studs - I like to add a little bit of sparkle to my cards if I can. Some sparkly gumdrops finish off my card - just a little more sparkle..

Card Recipe
Stamp: No Bones Doggy (M131) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Love Birds

                                  Happy Wednesday OCS fans!

I have been having some fun playing with the "Live Love Laugh" release from High Hopes. My post for today features " Love Birds" and the "Heart Sing" sentiment.

This image is so cute and versatile! I can see it being used for Valentine's day, weddings, spouse birthdays.......the list goes on and on.......

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers the fussy cut the image out with cuticle scissors and an exacto knife. The heart is from a stencil  and it is hand cut as well. I used a black marker around the edge to make it pop a bit.
A piece of cardstock run through a heart embossing folder created the perfect background in the heart. Add a stamped sentiment and some enamel dots and voila! - a CAS layout for your Valentine.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Love Birds (TT101) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Heart Sing (HH016)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Today I am sharing "Spring Lamb" - this cutie just makes me smile every time I see it....okay maybe giggle is more like it

I have also used a sentiment from Sentiment Mix 1 and paper from the Lovely Lavender paper collections 1 & 2 from the January new release.

After printing my stamp to the size I wanted I coloured it with alcohol markers and cut it out with a stitched square die. Cupid Love!

                                Happy New Year Whimsy Fans!

I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year's.  A new year and a new month means a New Release in the Whimsy Digital Shop! What an amazing way to start a New Year!

There are so many cuties to choose from in this release I had a hard time figuring out which one to colour first! Add to that the new sentiments and digital paper! ...... well let's just say it's good I had some time off work to play!

I chose to use "Cupid" for my card. With Valentine's Day just around the corner this cutie is perfect for you Valentine's Day cards.

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and then fussy cut it out.  I didn't intend to fussy cut this one but I had one of my red markers explode just above Cupid's head so fussy cutting was a necessity for this one.
After that catastrophe was taken care of, I pulled out some baby blue ink to create my sky and cut it out with a stitched oval die.

Then came the really fun part - choosing the digital papers I wanted to use from the new release! I chose them, printed them off and put together my card base. I wanted to keep my papers more on the neutral side so the image popped off the card. It is hard to see but I added some sparkle to the rose and the love word with a sparkle pen.

I added some die cut clouds and filled in his wings with Nuvo Crystal drops. The wood love word and arrow was coloured with a matching alcohol marker. Cotton lace ribbon,a die cut border and some photo corners finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Cupid - Whimsy Digital
Patterned Paper: Butterfly Breeze Papers 2, Fresh Rose Papers - Whimsy Digital
Honey Gold - Nuvo Crystal Drops, White gel pen, Red Berry Spectrum Sparkle marker, Stitched Oval die - YNS, Baby Blue ink - Memories Ink Pad, 3D foam squares - Scrapbook Adhesives, Crocheted Lace Ribbon - Crafts, Head in the Clouds Die - Die'sires, Tattered Lace border die, Photo corners - Quickutz, wood Love - Kaisercraft

Spectrum Markers: FS5 FS2 TN2 FS8 DR5 DR1 DR7 LG1 LG2 LG3 PP3 PP5 1G1 1G2 CT1 CT2 GB11

Love You

                             Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans!

It's the first week of January but my mind is out of Christmas card making mode into Valentine's Day cards. I don't normally make this type of card but High Hopes has some great stamps for this occasion so I just had to ink them up!

"Dino-Mite Dino" just makes me giggle! He could be used for so many card types....graduation, congratulations, birthday.....the list goes on! but I chose Valentine's Day for this guy.

After colouring Dino with alcohol markers I cut him out with circle die and cut a matching cardstock piece to put behind him.

I wanted to keep the layout of this card on the more simple side (for me anyway) to keep the focus on our friend Dino.

Now, I have a confession ... I didn't have a happy Valentine's day sentiment stamp that fit my design so I used "part" of another High Hopes sentiment for my card.
Some red rhinestones finish it off.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Dino-Mite Dino (M130) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Owl Always Love You (HH020)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Tea For Two - Cosmo Cricket
Tuxedo Black ink - MementoCopic XpressIt cardstock, rhinestones - stash, Banners #3 die - Sizzix, Classic Circle die - Spellbinders, Fiskars circle cutter

Spectrum Noir Markers: JG2 JG6 JG4 CG1 CG2 1G1 CR7 CR11 DR6
