Dragonfly Smiles

I can never have enough cards in my stash to send to friends and family who are going through tough times.
I love being able to send a smile or hug in the mail!

I think Lg. J's Dragonfly fits the bill to bring a smile to someone - especially with those heart shaped cheeks! She definitely makes me smile!

I coloured this cutie with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge then popped her up with foam pop dots. I added some dots to her cheeks with a white gel pen and because I like a little sparkly somewhere on my cards, I added some clear sparkle pen to the hearts in the wings.

I set her aside and die cut a cloud and grabbed my dauber and ink to create my sky background. Next I cut it to size and put it in my trusty Misti to stamp the sentiment in the perfect spot. I lightly drew the dashes with a pencil and then went over them with black marker once I was happy with their placement. Some twine and gumdrops finish off this fun, CAS style card.

Lattice Birthday Flowers

Every year my Mom asks me to make a card for one of her dear friends. Okay honestly there is more then one friend that she requests a card for but this particular friend is always over the moon excited to receive a handmade card.
It makes me happy to know that my Mom takes such pleasure in sharing a card with someone who appreciates it so much.

I have known this friend of my Mom's all my life. She has a huge personality, is kind, caring, full of life and is always dressed to perfection. She is so fun!!
This year the request was flowers and her favourite colours are yellow and pink. In my mind, the request made the Lovely Lattice stamp from Stampin' Up the perfect stamp choice.

I chose to colour this pretty stamp with Prismacolor Premium Pencils and after colouring hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white line. Watercolor paper seemed to be the best fit to put behind this new lattice die I recently added to my collection. I wanted to keep my paper subdued to keep the focus on the flowers. I added some sparkle around the lattice edge with Stickles, stamped the sentiment and added a few gumdrops to finish it off.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Lovely Lattice - Stampin' Up!
Sentiment: Happy Birthday Script - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Watercolor Wash Brights - MFT

Lattice Background die - Gina Marie Designs, Diamond Stickles, gumdrops - YNS

Prismacolor Pencils: Spanish, Canary, Lemon Yellow, Pink, Blush, Deco Pink, White, Olive, Apple, Spring Green, 20% Cool Grey

Love Hangin' With My Peeps

This week I am celebrating my friends! February is the month of love and I love my crazy friends who I like to call my "posse"! You know the ones.......you meet up for an innocent coffee or event, you let your hair down as they say and "things" just happen!
You end up making some of the best memories and well let's be honest, maybe relieve a little stress along the way. I am truly blessed to have these amazing women in my life.

I chose to use "Froggy Stack" for this card. This stamp is one of the first High Hopes stamps I ever won in a challenge many moons ago. I love the fun these three are having......although I think I would probably be the one in middle!

After colouring these three friends with alcohol markers I cut it out using a wonky stitched die - perfect for these three fun loving friends! I set them aside and went on to creating my sentiment. This is two long sentiments combined so I masked each word and stamped them separately. Challenging but I am very happy with the result. Next I cut my patterned paper from YNS and Echo Park to fit my design and added a stitched scalloped edge just for fun. Some glittery flowers (hard to see in the photo) and gumdrops finish off my card.

Swinging Birthday

We had an unexpected snow event last week where I live and another that is heading towards us for Tuesday (two days ago) so my thoughts have been turning towards Spring, sun and warmth.
Every crafter I know never has enough Birthday cards in their stash and I am no different so this week I created a CAS style, clear front card to add to my stash.

After colouring this sweet stamp with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut her leaving a thin white line. I set her aside and cut my card base. The sentiment I used is one sentiment but I masked off the first line and stamped it using my trusty Misti. Next I placed my cloud die and ran it through my Big Kick. I cut my blue sky background and a piece of embossable window plastic and added clouds to both using an embossing folder. I cut a plain white strip of cardstock for the bottom, masked my sentiment and stamped it.
A matching gingham ribbon and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: L'il Swinger - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Swinging Birthday - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Little Yellow Bicycle

Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Misti, white gel pen, enamel dots - Carta Bella, ribbon - Stampin' Up!, puffy cloud border die - YNS, embossable window plastic - Judi-kins, cloud embossing folder - Darice

Pizza My Heart

February is the month of love and they say the way to a man's heart is food....so "Luigi" has you covered! How fun is this heart shaped pizza!? Perfect for Valentine's Day or an Anniversary card especially if the recipient loves pizza!

This week I challenged myself to make a Valentine themed card in non traditional colours. After colouring the adorable Luigi with alcohol markers I  fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. Fussy cutting him was not my plan but things happen and the plan changes
I added him to a stitched tag background with some foam pop dots just for fun. The sentiment was stamped and cut to fit and all of this cuteness was added to some patterned paper from MFT and my stash. A few die cut hearts finish off my A2 size card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Luigi - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Pizza My Heart - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Gingham Galore - MFT, stash

Spectrum Noir Markers: BG5, 7, 10, CR7, 11 DR6, IG2

Thinking Of You

I don't know about you, but I like to have a Thinking of You card or two in my stash.
I never know when I will have a friend or family member who will go through a hard time or need a pick me up. For this card I used the "Lovely Lattice" stamp from Stampin' Up! I love the delicate feminine feel to this stamp and can see myself using it a lot!

After colouring the stamp with Prismacolor pencils I cut it out using a stitched rectangle frame. I stamped my sentiment directly on to the die cut and added it to some simple card stock layers. Some matching gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Lovely Lattice - Stampin' Up!
Sentiment: Everyday Mini Sentiments - Whimsy Stamps

Stitched Rectangle die - YNS, Lavendar gumdrops - YNS

Prismacolor Pencils: Prussian, Kelly and Apple green, Golden Rod, Spanish Orange, Canary Yellow, Black Grape, Violet Lilac
