Calling The Doctor

At this time of year I can never have enough get well cards in my stash. It seems every time I turn around someone is sick whether it's allergies, a spring cold or something more serious.
"Gnoming You Better" from High Hopes is a perfect stamp for a card to send someone to give them a smile and hopefully help them feel a little better.

I coloured up these fun nurse and doctor gnomes with alcohol markers and Prismacolor pencils and hand fussy cut them. Silver gel pen was added to the needle handle and needle as well as the top of the clipboard.
I found some lined paper for my "medical folder" and hand drew a heart beat line just for fun. I added a "tab" to the top of my file, masked off the sentiment (it is one sentiment but I wanted to split it up) and stamped the top line in the tab. A corner round gave me some rounded corners and then I stamped the second part of the sentiment.
A fun ribbon bow and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Did Someone Say Spring?

It's time to shake off those winter blues get your happy on and show us your happy dance moooves!
I am having some fun with my card this week - I mean seriously a dancing cow?! She just makes me giggle and definitely makes me happy! This cow would be perfect to add a birthday cake or party hat to for a fun Birthday card too! We all express our joy in different ways and this party cow sure has the moooves!

After colouring this adorable cow with alcohol markers I added some shading with Prismacolor pencils to a few areas. I hand fussy cut it and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I may have missed and popped her up using some foam dots.
Next I added some clouds to a piece of white card stock with a cloud die and some baby blue ink and cut it out using a slash stitched die. The fence with cut with my Cricut using the Old West cartridge and the grass tufts were cut with a die. A piece of gingham ribbon and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Healing Hugs

Let's face it - Cancer sucks! I have too many friends and family who have battled and continue to battle this nasty disease.
My friend and artist for Whimsy Stamps Crissy Armstrong drew "Penguin Ray" in honour of her brother who is fighting cancer. All proceeds from the sale of the stamp go to support Make A Wish Canada, a cause near and dear to Ray's heart.
I will never understand why the good people of the world get touched by this disease but to my friends and family who have fought and won and to those that continue to fight you truly are my hero's.

After printing my digital stamp and colouring it with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. I added a heart to his bandage just for fun.
I set the stamp aside and decided on my card size. Next I cut a heart shape and laid it on the white base. Stampin' Up inks were perfect to do some ink blending in my heart to create a background for Penguin Ray. The sentiment is retired but I felt like it was appropriate for my card. Some matching gumdrops finish off my card.

Magical Birthday

Tomorrow is my neighbour's 5th birthday. I call her "Miss Magoo". She is an adorable, opinionated, happy, full energy little lady who makes me laugh almost every day. She, her brother and their dog are usually waiting at the window to wave, stick their tongue out or make a funny face at me when I get home from work or return from walking my dog.
I chose to make a CAS (clean and simple) card for her birthday and also so I could include my card in a challenge. She loves dirt and mud but also, princesses and ponies so the Magical Ponies set from Your Next Stamp was perfect for her card.

It is hard to take a picture that catches all of the sparkle on this magical pony! She is coloured with sparkle pens and a wink of stella pen - her mane and tail are super sparkly and her wings are filled in with Stickles. Miss Magoo does love her sparkle
I hand fussy cut around the pony leaving a thin white edge and added a touch of alcohol marker to the hooves. The sentiment is from the stamp set and I combined two sentiments by masking them to make one sentiment. The stars in the background are cut using a Tim Holtz die and some magical striped patterned paper from Your Next Stamp is peeking through them
I find CAS cards extremely challenging but I am also glad to have a challenge to play along with that forces me to step out of my comfort zone. Leaving so much white space just feels wrong to me but I am happy with how this one turned out even if I am sitting on my hands.........

Mother's Day Waddles

Mother's Day is just around the corner! This month the High Hopes and One Crazy Stamper design teams are presenting thoughts of spring with our cards.
For me, one of the things that spring brings with it is a day to celebrate my Mom, my mother in law and a few other very special women who are an important part of my life.

Waddles and her clan are perfect for a Mother's Day card for one of these Mom's especially because a couple of them are animal lovers through and through.

I coloured the stamp with alcohol markers and did some shading with Prismacolor pencils. Next I cut out these cuties with a stitched rectangle die. Paper from Echo Park helped me put my vision together with flowers and stripes. The sentiment was created on my computer and cut and mounted on matching card stock. Some ribbon from my stash and flowers from Poppies and Paperie finish off my card.

Springtime Joy

Spring is here and my dog has Moe has his "spring beans" as I call them. It is like the whole winter he has saved his energy so when spring arrives he becomes my wild child. Everything is done with a spring in his step and his chest pushed out like he owns the world.

When I had my horse it was the same thing. First day out in the field was a challenge for him to decide ......do I stop and eat grass or run around my field bucking and kicking............

The playful goats stamp reminds me of the pent up energy that my dog has - you know the kind......when all you want to do is run, play and kick up your heels!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and Prisma pencils I hand fussy cut it. I wanted to put the goat on the left that is bucking on an action wobble so I cut him out completely. The mini action wobble is literally the width of his body so I had to be very precise with my placement but it sure adds a fun element!
I wanted to keep my layout more to the CAS side of card making to keep the focus on this fun stamp, so I grabbed some blue check paper and some white card stock andcut a circle out of if. I  the card stock in to my Misti and placed the sentiment and stamped it.
All of the paper is edged with antique linen distress ink, stitched clouds popped up with foam dots and some enamel dots finish off my fairly CAS design.

Egg-Stra Special

Spring is here......sort of. We had snow again this weekend but that is pretty normal where I live. The week had been beautiful, sunny and cool so my thoughts have been turning to spring and with spring comes Easter!

The Easter bunny will be here soon enough and this cutie is only one of a few adorable bunnies High Hopes has that are perfect for Easter cards! This cutie has a gift....I wonder if it is a chocolate peanut butter egg?!

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers and used Prisamacolor pencils for a bit of shading and his ears then hand cut him leaving a thin white edge. Paper from Lawn Fawn and Echo Park were perfect for this cutie and I cut them to form my base layers, tag and wreath. Some gumdrops and enamel dots finish off my card and the stamp is popped up with foam pop dots.

29 Again?

I don't know about you but I have more then a few girlfriends who get me laughing so hard when we're together that I have tears running down my leg.

My Mom has friends like this too so when she gets the chance to meet up with them for their birthday she likes to have a fun card to give them.
This time it is the Art Impressions Girlfriends Laughing stamp that fits the bill.

After colouring the stamp with Prismacolor pencils I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white border. I added some polka dots for fun and their earrings are sparkly silver Wink of Stella.  I set them aside and printed the digital paper I wanted to use. Next I cut a scalloped circle and a matching circle for the middle and trimmed off the side for something different. I added the sentiments and popped the stamp up with foam dots.
Some ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.
