Welcome Spring

Spring finally feels like it is here although last week felt more like summer with hot weather and humidity. I like spring because we usually get April showers and if we're lucky a rainbow and once May hits, I can plant some flowers that attract butterflies and bees.
I decided to do a card celebrating a few of the things I love about spring and "Sting" and "Rainbow In Clouds" from High Hopes were perfect for me to create a scene with. I used a design originally shared by my fellow dt member and dear friend Cheri called a front stepper card (link below). It is a perfect design for this after a rain shower scene.

I stamped my stamps, coloured them with Copic markers and hand fussy cut them. I left a thin white edge around Sting and coloured and cut an extra cloud to go with the rainbow. Now to be honest here, I had a little mishap when I was cutting Sting out.....I cut off one of the raindrops by accident - yikes. I fixed it by taking a small piece of acetate, gluing it to the back of the flower and then gluing the raindrop on the other end. It is kind of a cool effect since the rain drop now looks like it is floating in mid air. I also added some sparkle pen to Sting's wings and the rainbow.

I set the coloured images aside and using Cheri's tutorial found here (front stepper card) I cut and scored my base pieces.
Some gorgeous rainbow paper from Lawn Fawn was perfect for my theme so I cut the pieces to fit my design. I added some grass tufts to ground Sting so he didn't look like he was floating in mid air.
Next some blue sky paper from Craft Consortium was cut to size and I added the rainbow in the clouds stamp and the extra cloud. I stamped and cut the sentiment to fit and added some glitter dots to finish off the card.

Purrfect Day

I can never have enough Thinking of You, Just Because, pick me up type cards in my stash. It is fun to "shop" my stash to find a card that is perfect to send to a friend or family member when they are going through a tough time or just because.

The "Kitty Love" stamp from High Hopes and the "Purrfect Day" sentiment are perfect to send a special cat loving friend of mine who has lost her smile. This versatile stamp would also perfect for an Anniversary, Birthday or Valentine's card for the cat lover in your life.

After stamping and colouring these cuties with Copic markers I cut them out using a circle die. I also stamped and coloured the bow from the Cow Hugs stamp and added some white dots to it with a gel pen although they are kinda hard to see.

Next I got a stitched tag die and cut out two tags. I used a floral border embossing folder to add some fun flowers to the edges to add some interest. Patterned paper from Your Next Stamp's Hugs and Kisses pad werea fun choice for these two. A ribbon bow and matching enamel dots finish off my card.

Dog Thank You

A couple weeks ago I received a special card request. The question was whether I had a stamp with a dog and girl on it to give to a person's dog care giver. The only other information I had was the care giver had black hair and the dog she took care of was black as well.

I dug through my High Hopes Stamps stash because I knew Heidi & Mattie would be perfect for this request.

I coloured my stamp using Copic markers, hand fussy cut it and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. I used a white gel pen to add some shine to the dog's nose and popped them up with foam tape. I chose patterned paper from A Dog's Tail paper pad by Echo Park and cut it to fit my design and layers.

Next I stamped the sentiment and cut it out using a fish tail banner die. I added some Stampin' Up ribbon and a paw charm I had in my stash. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Sweet Dreams

We have had a few warm sunny days lately and it has made me think about afternoon naps in the warm sun.

I personally have not gotten along well with hammocks in the past. I am not co-ordinated enough apparently to be able to get my body in them and keep it there. My attempts often end up with me landing on my butt on the ground - it is a sight to see and worthy of a comedy show should someone catch it on video.

If I could keep myself in one, I am sure I would look like this adorable ant on the "Sweet Dreams" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps, snoozing and dreaming a little dream in the sun and hoping my dreams come true.

After stamping and colouring this cutie with alcohol markers, I cut him out using a slash stitched round corner die. Since I didn't have a die one larger then the one I used, I traced the outside of the die and hand cut it for a card stock piece to back it with. I combined three different lines of paper to create my design, stamped and cut the sentiment to size and mounted it on matching card stock. A simple bow and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Some Days.....

The vault has been opened and the Furry & Friends release is now available. The barn doors have opened! Pigs and cows, and dogs and the bull - oh my!

I grew up in a small town but most of friends lived on farms. I grew up spending most of my summer vacations doing things on the farm from stone picking to feeding the animals. I learned to work hard and this is where my love of horses came from - most of them had horses too.

There was nothing better than tending to the pigs and cows if it meant I could go for a ride......even just one ride - that was my happy place.

This release doesn't have a horse in it but it does have a super cute donkey that just makes me smile! Meet Be A Donkey from High Hopes - how cute is he!?! I wonder what these three have planned!?!

I stamped this cutie, coloured him with my Copic markers and cut him out using a rounded corner with piercing marks die. I found some wood patterned paper that I thought worked perfectly and added some matching purple gingham to the mix. After stamping the sentiment I cut it size and added it directly under my coloured image.  Some corner dies, cotton ribbon and matte enamel dots to finish it off.
