It Fainted - Honest!!

I have to be honest, I had an extremely hard time getting through colouring and assembling this card because I was giggling to myself (and sometimes out loud) the whole time.

I had a cat named Smokey who decided launching himself from the top of my desk, across the room and into my artificial Christmas tree was a cool thing to do. There is still a permanent "hole" in the tree today. He would also steal all the balls off of it and we found most of them when we moved - he hid them under a dresser in our bedroom. In his later years, laying under the tree was his favourite place to be. I love when a stamp can bring back so many good memories!

After colouring my image, I cut it out with a Spellbinders die and doodled some paw prints  around the edge. I printed my sentiment from my computer and cut it out with a fishtail banner die. I created my own background paper using a paw print stamp - I think there would be evidence around the tree even though our friends here tried to hide it!
I finished off my card with a Christmas tree brad, some gumdrops and red checkered ribbon. The finished card size is 5x5.

Cute Mummy

I can remember trick or treating as a child. We had some very spooky, dark laneways to walk down in our neighbourhood and one house we had convinced ourselves was haunted. That house even had a VERY grumpy, crusty old man that lived there.......you know - the kind nightmares are made of! The man who watched you out the window and had only candle light in the back ground.........YIKES!!!!

Okay - spooky story done!!!! Meet "Mummy"!

                                                Donna

I made an A2 size card base with black cardstock, then layered different patterned papers. The sentiment is cut from one of my patterned papers. There is some spooky spider web on top of the bottom layer of paper. I finished off my card with some black crystals. It's hard to see in the photo but I used Clear Glossy Accents on the lantern after I coloured it.

Snowy Love - Ornament and Shaker Card

The day I made this set, the weather was cool and feeling more like October then August in Ontario.

The perfect temperature to throw on a sweater and get into a winter/Christmas mode... I can't believe I just typed that! I also can't believe it's September already!

My post today features Snowy Love from the Joys of the Seasons new release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

I made a shaker card and an ornament with this oh so cute stamp. This could be part of a hostess gift for the Christmas season maybe?

Card Close Up

After colouring my two images, I set about making my ornament. There are actually two stamps in the ornament - one on each side - so when it is hung on the tree you are seeing this cutie from both sides (it also covers the marker bled through paper on the back side of the stamp). They are glued together and then set into half of the ornament. The other half of the ornament is put on (it snaps together) and then ribbon and a wooden snowflake with glitter are added to finish it off. The challenge with these ornaments? - getting a good picture!!!!

For the card, I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers, and fussy cut it. The finished card size is 41/2 x 41/2. I cut my cardstock and patterned paper to create my base. I ran a smaller piece of white cardstock through my Big Kick in a snowflake embossing folder and then cut out a circle with a die cut. After adding some foam tape and overhead transparency to create my window, I added beads, snowflakes and sequins. The card is finished off with a computer generated sentiment and a wooden snowflake with glitter.

Two Birthdays - One Day

Happy Labour Day weekend! Later today I will be going to my mother in laws to celebrate two birthdays.

My father in law turned 83 and my oldest nephew turned 20 - both on the same day!

My nephew has always been into sports, specifically soccer so I made him a soccer themed card. He played goal so I have kicked some balls at him many times to help him practice. The card I made for him is below.

My father in law does some amazing wood working! My home is filled with things he has carved and chip carved. He has won ribbons for his work at some local wood shows - his work is amazing! I am sharing his card below - it has been feeling into the mid to high 30's this week with humidity so the sentiment is a little bit of a play on words.

I am off to go eat! I have been told there is going to be freshly made peach pie - I wonder if my mother in law will let me eat dessert first!?

Have a great weekend!

Witchy Ride - Easel Card with a Twist

How cute is this witch from the Joys of the Seasons new release! She is called Witchy Ride (found here)

I made a standard easel card with a twist. The twist is an LED tea light behind the moon to light it up. How fun is that?! I saw a tutorial here (scroll down) awhile ago and when I saw this stamp I knew it was the perfect stamp to try this idea with.

Without the Light

I started by making my easel card and cutting out the moon with a circle die. I pounced the moon with a little bit of yellow ink to add a bit of colour to it. I coloured my stamps with alcohol markers (list below) and fussy cut them. After picking a font for my sentiment I printed it and mounted it on cardstock. The broom and bats were added and the card is finished off with orange and black gumdrops

Joy Ride - Joys Of The Seasons New Release Blog Hop

Hello High Hopes fans and welcome to the Joys of the Seasons blog hop. I hope you are enjoying all of the design team posts - so much fun! You should have arrived here from Carolina's blog.

My card features "Joy Ride". Super cool Bob and his wife - congratulations on your wedding Bob! - are participating in their home town Christmas parade. We find them cruising down the main street under a colourful garland street decoration and waving to their adoring fans on his super cool motorcycle.

I coloured my stamp with Spectrum Noir Markers (list below) and fussy cut it. My background sky was created by pouncing some blue ink, cutting a strip of grey cardstock (pounced with grey ink to make it look like cement) for the road and adding just a tiny bit of snow. I don't think Bob would have his motorcycle out if there was a ton of snow do you?
The "garland" is cut with my Cricut, I added my sentiment and a few snowflakes I cut with a Marvy snowflake punch.
Glitter was added to Bob's wife's earrings and necklace (hard to see) and Wink of Stella was added to Bob's glasses (hard to see). I am addicted to YNS gumdrops so I had to add a few to the corners and drew on my stitch lines with a black marker.
