Hummingbird Hello

I have had this stamp in my stash for a little while now. I think it is a gorgeous stamp that can be used for so many different occasions but for some reason, I have been scared to try colouring it.
However, for this weeks post, I wanted something that had a Spring feel to it, something I could use some bright spring colours with, so I sat down, took a deep breath..............and then this happened

Sketch Inspiration

After colouring this amazing stamp with alcohol markers, I fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge and set it aside. I cut out a circle and added some puffy clouds using a cloud die, dauber and light blue ink. The hummingbird and flower were added using some foam pop dots. Next I cut my patterned papers and a cardstock backing piece to match. The scripty word die was taped down on the patterned paper (with painters tape so it didn't rip the paper) and run through my big kick. The die was run again using a piece of matching cardstock. I glued the cardstock word down as an inset and added some ribbon and gumdrops to finish off my card.

Light Those Candles

This cute little fireman and his dog are racing in to save the day and help you put out your birthday candles!

My younger brother was a volunteer fire fighter for years and he loved doing it. I don't think I ever saw him with a Dalmation tagging along but I did hear some fun stories over the years.

I also don't think he would have volunteered to help me put out my birthday candles with his fire truck and hose.........well actually - he would have - he does like to bug and tease me...sigh......

I coloured this cutie with my alcohol markers and cut it out using a stitched square die and added it to some fun party paper from Photo Play. The sentiment was masked off (it is only part of a sentiment), stamped and cut out using a circle die. Some fun matching enamel dots finish off my card.

100 % Outrageous Joy

Sometimes you just have to stop and play with one of your favourite stamps right?!  That was the case for me this morning! It is cold and snowy out so I banished myself to my craft room!

The "Krash The Horse" stamp from Your Next Stamp was one of the first horse stamps I ever bought and I used it to play along in my first ever Your Next Stamp challenge back in 2013. Today I am using the stamp for Sketch and Colour Challenge #82.

This stamp is very near and dear to my heart because it is named after my horse - Krash. He has passed on now but I can say ... he did like to have a bucking fit and kick up his heels now and again - just to keep my on my toes of course....

The Sketch

I chose to follow the sketch for the challenge and make a fun shaker card. After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I cut it out using the matching die.
I cut out my oval shape for the shaker portion of the card and added some fun butterflies using the mini butterfly stamp and some Stampin' Up. I used the same ink to edge all of my card pieces.  I stamped the sentiment and added it to my card. Some twine, a wood horseshoe and my fav gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Krash The Horse, Mini Butterfly Ink Splatter - Your Next Stamp
Sentiment: Waddles Rainbow Fun - Your Next Stamp
Ink: Creamy Carmel - Stampin' Up
Love Me Some Latte gumdrops - Your Next Stamp, 3D Foam Pop Dots - Forever In Time, twine, seed beads, sequins, silver gel pen

Hockey Penguin Valentine??

Yes folks, you read that right - my post today features a hockey playing penguin for a Valentine's Day card.
I have a number of friends who's spouses love hockey. They live and breath it, the TV is always on a game when there is one on and don't touch the remote!

So I got to thinking.......if I had a spouse who loved hockey - what kind of Valentine's Day card could I make that would get his attention.....and voila! A non-traditional hockey playing penguin.....why not!? and of course the perfect play on words sentiment to match

I found some Valentine feel papers in my vast array of paper and coloured my stamp to match. I added some twine, a wood heart coloured to match and some black gumdrops. It is a more simple layout but I think has a masculine touch to it and the heart and heart paper count for Valentine's Day right?

Card Recipe
Stamp: Penguin's Pastime - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Ice For You - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: True Love - Reverse Confetti
Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Misti, stitched square die - Your Next Stamp, twine, wood heart - the Stockade, black gumdrops - Your Next Stamp

Very Present Gift Bag

I love when you get to play with a new stamp and it brings back fond memories. "Very Present Helpers" from the new digital release did just that for me!

I used to have a cat named Smokey who loved to "help" me wrap presents and tie the bows. I had to double check more then once that he wasn't literally being wrapped in the present.

I used this super cute stamp to make a gift bag and some dies from Whimsy were perfect to make my gift tag. (links below)

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers, added some glittery stickles to the bow and set it aside. I made my gift bag based loosely on a card purse tutorial I found on Splitcoaststampers. I cut and assembled my bag - paper from the Fantasy Papers 1 digital paper set were perfect. Next I cut my tag shape and added my heart and paw print die and stamped my sentiment.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Very Present Helpers - Whimsy Stamps
Sentiment: Everyday Mini Sentiments - Whimsy Stamps
Patterned Paper: Fantasy 1 Papers - Whimsy Stamps
Dies: Furever Friends die set, Stitched Tag dies - Whimsy Stamps

Full Bloom

We are in the throws of winter where I live....okay honestly as I type this it feels more like Spring and there is grass showing which is not normal! I am sure Mother Nature will bless us with more snow so I decided to play with a flower this month. To me, nothing says warm weather and sunshine like flowers.

I chose to make a CAS (clean and simple) card with the "Large Open Flower stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.  CAS style cards are not in my comfort zone and I found myself literally sitting on my hands to keep from adding things.

I coloured "Large Open Flower" with alcohol markers. Then I took a deep breath and partially fussy cut only part of the image. I slipped a stitched rectangle die behind it and ran it through my Big Kick. I had set the sentiment on before hand to make sure that everything would fit properly before die cutting my rectangle.

My Misti was the perfect tool to place my sentiment exactly where I wanted it and voila! I added all of this to a white background with embossed polka dots. A few clear gumdrops which I felt looked like dew drops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Large Open Flower - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Life In Full Bloom - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Misti, polka dot embossing folder - Cuttlebug, stitched rectangle die - Your Next Stamp, Crystal Clear and Sparkle gumdrops - Your Next Stamp
