Polly's Note

I can't believe my time as a guest designer for Krafty Chicks Challenge has come to an end so quickly. I have had so much fun playing along with the weekly challenges and "virtually" meeting this fun, welcoming group of ladies. Thank you everyone for an amazing month!
My final post for March is for Krafty Chicks Challenge #500 - All Occasion. I am using the oh so adorable Polly from Whimsy Stamps. I can never have too many cards in my stash that I can send so someone knows I am thinking of them.

I coloured this cutie and the rainbow with alcohol markers, cut her out using a pleated lace die and added her to some matching card stock. I added some star dust Stickles to the flower centre for a touch of bling.
Next I cut some matching lined paper and used a note book edge die to make it look like it was torn off a note pad. Some gingham and water color wash papers helped my design come together. I stamped and added the sentiment sideways. Some matching ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

A Good Friend

"Leon" is out on his branch absorbing some much needed sun! He is well hidden but if you look through the tree branches you just may be able to spot him
He is meeting his neighbours from his favourite branch and waving and smiling as they come out into the sun themselves.
Leon is perfect to add to my just because, thinking of you stash - a stash that I will keep adding to as I send out love, hugs and hopefully smiles to my friends and family while we can't be together.

Speaking of sharing smiles and love check this out on the High Hopes Website!!!

I coloured friendly Leon with Copics and added a bit of shading with Prismacolor pencils. A cloud die and ink were perfect for adding some clouds around him.
I wanted it to look like you were looking through tree branches to see him so I took a branch die and cut it out multiple times. I cut some "extra" leaves and added them to each die to make the leaves seem thicker. I also didn't glue them all down flat to help add some dimension.
Some ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Hangin' With You

This week's Krafty Chicks Challege #499 is CAS (Clean and Simple). I find this style of card very challenging as I love to add layers of patterned paper or create a scene on my cards. Having said that there are times when I like to challenge myself to literally sit on my hands when I am creating and do something more clean and simple. It also helps kick start my creativity and helps me step outside my creative box.
I coloured Hangin' Around from High Hopes Rubber Stamps quite a while ago and he has been patiently waiting for my creativity to kick in and get him on a card. Paired with a new inside out stitched die I received as a Christmas gift and voila - my version of clean and simple it is.

This fun stamp is coloured with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut using my trusty xacto knife and manicure scissors. Next I cut my white cardstock to the size I wanted, tentatively laid the die on top and placed and stamped the  sentiment. This piece was put through my Big Kick to cut out the circle and I added a cloudy sky in the background. The clouds were created using a cloud die cut and baby blue ink. A simple piece of blue cardstock and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Easter Bunny Greetings

Easter is just around the corner so I'm hopping in with this adorable "Bunny Stack" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.
I don't often get my Easter cards sent or given out - I always forget to take them!, but I think this year may be the year that happens.
These guys just make me smile and I would love to see the smile that this cute stack of bunnies I hope would bring to someone else.

After colouring these cuties with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut them out leaving a thin white edge. I found some patterned paper from Stampin' Up for my background and added some matching card stock which I ran through an embossing folder. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out using a fishtail banner die. Some matching ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Dapper Dan Christmas

It's all about Christmas this week with  Krafty Chicks Challenge #498 - Christmas.  I love Christmas and I love making Christmas cards. I try very hard to make them throughout the year but I usually end up procrastinating on them and my hubby and dog don't know who I am for the month of December because I am hiding in my craft room trying to get cards done.
I decided Dapper Dan from High Hopes Rubber Stamps was the perfect gentleman to create my first Christmas card of 2020. How adorably handsome is he!?!?

After colouring the handsome Dapper Dan with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut him and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had left behind. I created my background using a lamp post and fence die and some punched snowflakes. Patterned paper from Echo Park's My Favorite Winter collection were perfect for this stamp.
Some ribbon, a Merry Christmas sentiment and enamel dots (my favourite) finish off my card.

Warm Birthday Wishes

This week I am having some fun with "Warm Wishes" from High Hopes to make a birthday card for one of my brothers. We are all at the age where we need more then three candles on our cake, so why not call on your favourite dragon to light the "large" amount of candles we will need this year to light them all at once!?!

I coloured up this fun stamp with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I cut my background pieces to fit my design and used a die cut to cut the balloons. I tried a couple of matching colours for the inset balloons but they just didn't look right so I went with the same colour.
It is hard to see in the photo but I added clear sparkle pen to the balloons to get the touch of bling I like to add to my cards if I can.
I stamped the sentiment and mounted it on matching cardstock. I love how the letters are slanted - it looks like the wind from the dragons fire is blowing them around!
Some matching ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Did Someone Say Spring?

I don't know about anyone else but I am sooo ready for Spring. We have had a taste of it where I live off and on with some days of blue sky and bright, hot spring sun. It has been followed by snow the next day but hey, I will take what I can get!
"Hangin' Around" from High Hopes makes me think spring! I mean who wouldn't love to just be hangin out on some reeds absorbing some rays

After colouring this cutie with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut him and set him aside. Next I grabbed some inks and brushes to create my background.
I combined some distress inks for the sky and Stampin' up inks for the sun. I cut a circle die out and temporarily stuck it where I wanted it to be and inked in blue around it. After the sky was done I removed the die cut and added the ink to the sun.
To keep the inks from blending together and making a green "ring" around the sun I put the negative piece of cardstock I used to cut the circle on top of the circle and added the ink - anything that went over the edge of the circle ended up on the paper instead of the sky! I added some stitched clouds to the sky and some cattail reeds behind him to create some depth in the card.

Some bright, sunny paper from Lawn Fawn was perfect for my spring feel card. I stamped and added the sentiment and included a fishtail banner in cardstock to help it stand out a bit. Matching ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Rainbow Smiles

My first post as a guest designer for Krafty Chicks Challenge #497 Stamp Act (use a stamp) is all about penguins, rainbows and sending smiles! I love having cards in my stash that I can send to a friend or family member who needs a little pick me up or a hug in a card as I like to say when I can't be there in person.
I had a hard time choosing from my stamp "collection" but decided that the super adorable Waddles from Your Next Stamp needed some love and ink. He has been in my stash for awhile and hasn't seen daylight..or ink!

I coloured this cutie and the rainbow with alcohol markers and cut him out using the matching die. The rainbow was hand fussy cut and I added some clear sparkle pen to it - so hard to see in the photo! I set them aside and created my sky background using a cloud die cut, ink and a dauber. Next I stamped the clouds (included in the set) and grabbed a sentiment from a second Waddles set and stamped it inside the cloud - it was a perfect fit.
This is a more clean and simple card then I usually do but I needed to keep it somewhat flat so I could mail it although Waddles and the cloud are popped up with foam pop dots.......maybe this one will have to be hand delivered!

Gardeners Know!

"Gardening Gertie" just makes me smile and brings back the most wonderful memories.
When we were kids my Grandma would come over every spring and design and help plant the flower beds around the house. She had an amazing green thumb and always magically knew what to put where and how many of each so the beds would bloom all season with a multitude of colours.
I had my own "special job" when Grandma was there to plant and I took it very seriously. I had to put the "magic" blue water in the hole and carefully fill it in with dirt afterwards.
I can say I love flowers just like my Grandma but I can also say I definitely did not inherit her magical green thumb!

I coloured this fun stamp with alcohol markers and cut it out using an xstitched die. It is hard to see in the photo but I added some stickles to the polka dots on her shirt and glasses. The lenses of her glasses have a touch of glossy accents.

I chose patterned paper from a fall pad from Simple Stories because Grandma often had flowers on her dress when she came to plant. Her dress was often a darker blue but it usually always had some kind of flower print on it.

I cut some matching blue cardstock to fit and then cut a fun heart flower border. Some rain drop corners, a fun sentiment, ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.
