Hat-itude!

I Love when a stamp not only makes me smile but also brings back some fun memories! Gertie, Millie and Hattie from High Hopes Stamps does just that!

The memories are from a pre pandemic shopping trip I was on with my peeps. We were in a craft store around Halloween that had costume pieces.....including hats. One of us looking at the hats and trying one on turned in to all three of us trying on a hat followed by some schenanigans and a whole lot of laughs and fun.

Yes there are pictures to prove it......but I don't think we had quite the same Hat-itude that these three have! I am also seeing a spring card design for these three fun chicks. Meet Gertie, Millie and Hattie!

After stamping these cuties I coloured them with Copic markers and hand fussy cut them. I wanted to keep the design simple for this card because I wanted the "chicks" to be the focus - they are so fun!

The card size itself is a little different because it is more of a vertical format and I usually do square cards. A super talented crafty peep of mine introduced me to this size of card last year and it is fast becoming a favourite. The finished card size is 4.5"w x 5.5"h.

Patterned paper from two different Echo Park pads were perfect for these fun chicks. I love plaid so after cutting it and the card stock to size I glued them down. Next I cut the green paper and card stock, glued them down and added them to the plaid base. I stamped the sentiment and cut it out using a fish tail banner and added some matching card stock. Foam pop dots were added to the stamped image before placing them to add some dimension to my card.  Some ribbon and enamel dots finish of my simple design.

Birthday Fishes

I have a lot of men and young men in my life who love fishing. I did some as a kid but it wasn't anything that really stuck with me, although I did love being outside by water. I find it really interesting that a day of fishing always seems to include a story about the big one that got away and it always makes me chuckle.

"Dad's Catch and Cattails" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps are perfect for a birthday card for one of the fishermen in my life. It gave me a chance to not only practice my masculine cards but is also fun for a little bit of tongue in cheek humor. I combined two sentiments (links below) to create this one which I think is perfect for this birthday card.

I stamped and coloured the stamps with Copic markers and hand fussy cut "Dad's Catch" leaving a think white edge. I set him aside and coloured the cattails and added a sunburst background using a stencil and ink. I added a light blue ink to the bottom edge for a water line. Patterned paper from the Gone Camping collection from Carta Bella had the perfect fishing themed paper for this card. I cut it to fit my 5"x 5" base and layered it with card stock.

Next I cleared my desk and pulled out my sticky notes, ink, Misti and the sentiments I wanted to use. I love when I can stretch my supplies and making one sentiment out of two different ones is a great way to do that! I also had to find some patience! because it took me about 6 tries and walking away numerous times to get the sentiment stamped how I wanted it. I am really happy with how it turned out.

I added some twine to the bottom of the card and I didn't have a fish embellishment like I pictured in my head so I cut it out of another piece of paper from the same collection and popped it up with 3D foam pop dots.......the big one that got away <wink>. Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Happy Easter!

We have been enjoying some sun where I live and although there is still a lot of snow on the ground and it is still pretty cold it makes me itch for spring. Not just for the sun and melting snow but for spring flowers and Easter.

I always seem to forget to give my Easter cards away but this year I am going to try to remember to. We may not be able to get together for Easter again so I am making cards to be able to send out to family. Three Pane Easter from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is perfect for Easter and Spring cards. These cute babies just make me smile and I hope they will make the person I send this card to smile too.

After stamping these cuties with tuxedo black Memento ink, I coloured them with Copic alcohol markers and cut them out using my paper trimmer. After setting them aside I found some paper from Echo Park to create my patterned paper layers. I used a polaroid die to add some interest behind them and cut them out in matching card stock.
After stamping the sentiment I cut it out using a banner die and trimmed the ends. I mounted it on card stock and slid it under the stamped image. Next I inked all of the layers with antique linen distress ink to help them stand out and added a gingham bow and enamel dots to finish off my card.

Easter Greetings

Am I the only one who can't believe it is March already!??? That means spring is just around the corner and that all the snow we have will melt. We have had some beautiful, sunny spring like weather lately and it has been amazing to take a walk in the warm sun.

Spring also means Easter is just around the corner so today I am adding to my Easter card stash using "A Tulip For You" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. This stamp works for Easter but would also work for spring, Valentine's or an anniversary card. So many possibilities and I love when I can use a stamp for more than one occasion!

I chose to go clean and simple (CAS) with my card design for this adorable stamp. After stamping it, I coloured it with Copic markers and set it aside. Patterned paper from Your Next Stamp with some adorable little hearts was perfect for this pair and I cut it and the card stock to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" card base.

Next I laid my border edge die onto the stamped image paper to decide where I wanted to cut my border. I placed the sentiment into the space where I wanted to stamp it and then cut my border edge. After placing it on my card base decided how much had to be trimmed off the top to fit leaving a little patterned paper and card stock showing. Then I cut a piece of card stock to the correct width and cut the border edge. I placed the stamped image on to my Misti, placed the sentiment and stamped it directly on to the paper.

To finish my card, I edged all of the paper with antique linen distress ink and added some twine and color added clear enamel dots.
