Under The Bonnet

As crafters, we all have that time in our lives when we need a masculine themed Birthday card.
This digital image called "Under The Bonnet" from Lily Of The Valley is perfect for our adult son's birthday card - shh don't tell him, he will receive it later today.

I coloured this super cute stamp with alcohol markers and then cut it out using a classic square die. I added it to patterned paper from Echo Park and snuck a piece of denim in from my stash. A simple sentiment, a metal wrench - appropriate right?! and some gumdrops finish off my card.

Celebrate The Joys

I have one more fall, Thanksgiving themed card to share with you this month.
Fall is my favourite time of year and so is Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for my family and friends, and I am grateful for the things I have accomplished and the challenges I have survived. This week's card is more of a simple layout then I usually do. I love this sentiment and I wanted to find a way to use it to have it be the focal point of my card along with a horn of plenty with lots of fresh produce in it.

I cut my stitched oval circle and then using my Misti, stamped the sentiment. I cut a scallop oval to put behind it. After colouring my stamps with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut them. I added my stamps to patterned paper from Simple Stories and Carta Bella. Some twine and gumdrops finish off my card.

Happy Trick Or Treating

Happy Wednesday OCS fans! This week I have one more not too spooky Halloween card to share with you.

My card features "Elvira's Kitty In Training", part of the Trick or Treat Greeting sentiment and the cat paw print from the Cat and Dog Paws set all from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I'm not sure what trick or spell Elvira is trying to teach her kitty  - gulp!

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers and cut it out with a stitched rectangle die. I cut my patterned paper layers out of a 6x6 pad from American Crafts. I had some fun Halloween confetti in my stash so I added some in a somewhat random pattern .. like they are weaving a spell. I masked off the part of the sentiment I wanted and stamped it using my Misti - love my Misti!
Some ribbon and a paw print embellishment finish off my card.

Card Recipe

Poultry In Motion

Our friend Tom the turkey heard that Thanksgiving is coming soon and for some odd reason he has decided not to stay for dinner! This stamp just cracks me up!

This week's card features Turkey Getaway and the Poultry In Motion sentiment from High Hopes.  I made him into a slider card.......I mean he does seem to be in a hurry to get out of town after all!

After giggling through colouring my stamp I hand fussy cut him out and set him aside. I cut out the "sky" using a stitching and piercing mark circle die and added some die cut clouds. Next I used my slider die to cut out "Tom's" getaway path.
I added a fence behind my sky, and added all of this to paper from Echo Park. Some ribbon, a couple arrows and some gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Turkey Getaway - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Boo-tiful Day

Halloween is a spooky, sometimes creepy time of year but these cuties from High Hopes are more cute then scary aren't they?!

Meet Boo Pals - how fun are these three! I decided to pair them with some more non-traditional Halloween coloured papers just for fun.

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. I glued it down on some black card stock and cut it out leaving a thin black cardstock line to help it stand off the card.
The stamp is popped up using 3D foam squares to keep it above the twine I put behind it. Some super cute die cut ghosts and black gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Boo Pals - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Boo-tiful Day - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Spookville - We R Memory Keepers
Tuxedo Black ink - Memento,  Misti,  White Gelly Roll pen, Happy Haunting Die set - YNS, 3D Foam pop dots - Forever In Time, twine - Baker's, Cupid gumdrops - YNS

Snowmen Fall Unassembled

It's the 15th of the month and time for a new Anything Goes Challenge at Whimsy Stamps!

I don't think you can ever start making Christmas cards early enough...although thinking about cold and Christmas is kinda tough in hot, humid weather! Top O' The Morning by Crissy Armstrong however, makes it easy to get into the Christmas card making mode - seriously - how cute is he with his bird friend!?!

After printing my stamp to the size I wanted I coloured it with Spectrum Noir Alcohol makers. I printed my digital paper and cut it the size I needed to complete me 5.5"x 5.5" card. Some glittery snow was added to the fence, lampost and a little under the snowman. Clear Spectrum Sparkle pen and Stickles add some fun bling to the pom pom and buttons. A lacy bow and some gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Top O The Morning - Whimsy Digital Stamps
Sentiment: Snomwan Sheet 1 - Whimsy Digital Stamps
Patterned Paper: Christmas Tidings Digital - Whimsy Stamps

Half The Fun

With fall comes different responsibilities around the farm. As kids, we often tried to find fun ways to get our responsibilities done - this stamp reminds me of that. I mean what is more fun then a "hay ride" to take a chicken back to it's coop?!? We didn't necessarily always think things through  ......but boy did we have fun getting our work done!

After colouring my stamp with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, I cut it out using a stitched rectangle die. I think the paper from Simple Stories has a country feel to it - perfect for my card. Some twine, punched maple leaves and my fav - gumdrops finish off my card.

Free Broom Rides

Halloween is just around the corner. Plans are being made for witches and ghosts and ghouls to come out of the wood work for trick or treating. It is a spooky time of year but this cute witch from High Hopes is having some fun with it all and offering some free broom rides!

After colouring this cutie with alcohol markers, I cut her out using a circle die. I had to cut part of her hat and broom first as my die wasn't big enough to to around them.
Next I cut a piece of orange cardstock and stamped it with the new spider background. It wasn't quite as wide as my piece of paper so there was some overlap in the webs... hidden now by the sentiment and twine
Some creepy spiders, a broom from my stash and a few matching gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Free Broom Rides - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Happy Halloween Script - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

I have alot of people in my life who love penguins so I always need a stash of penguin themed cards.

Christmas is not exception so when I can make a card to include in a challenge, it is a win win!

Next I cut out a polaroid die and stamped my sentiment using white ink. It is hard to see in the photo but the ornament tops are coloured with a silver sparkle pen and the ornaments have a clear sparkle pen on them. Some sparkly ribbon, glitter silver gumdrops and icicles finish off my card.

Happy Fall Y'all

Welcome to September High Hopes fans! Seriously, where has the year gone?! Fall is my favourite time of year......but I really feel like we just got through winter didn't we?!
I live in a rural area so it is the time of year when farmers are on the fields taking off crops and well.....spreading manure...okay maybe that part isn't my favourite but fresh produce from these fields is the best!

It is no secret.........Bob the farmer loves his tractor! He is more then happy to be out on the fields taking crops off all day!

Bob and his tractor and the farm background are coloured with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut. I used a hills die to cut out some fun rolling hills. The sentiment was stamped and cut out and place on the corner. I added some glossy accents to the tractor headlights just for fun. Bob is popped up with pop dots and some gumdrops finish off my card.

Thankful For Friends Like You

Happy September OCS fans! Fall is in the air - it is my favourite season. I love the crisp feel in the air and my cozy sweaters.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner to and I am always thankful for the friends I have in my life. Our friends come in all shapes and sizes so I chose to use this more of a Halloween theme stamp to make a card celebrating my friends.

These fun friends are coloured with alcohol markers and cut out using a stitched rectangle die. I added some freckles to the dog and cat using a brown marker. The sentiment was created on my computer and cut out using fishtail banner dies and mounted on patterned paper from the Story of Fall collection from Echo Park. I left the die on the image and used baby blue ink around the edges. Some gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Pumpkin Buddies - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Hello Fall

I am so excited fall is just around the corner! I love the colours, the natural tones and the cool temperatures this season brings with it. Fall also brings with it fresh apples which are perfect for home made apple pie and apple fritters.

The Penguin Apple Bushell stamp from the new digital release reminds me of these yummy things and my favourite season. And besides ........who can resist a penguin this cute!?!

After printing off my stamp I coloured it with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut it using manicure scissors, I added it to some fun Autumn digital papers. The sentiment was perfect for this fall feel card. I used a maple leaf punch to cut some leaves out of some of the digital paper and rolled them with a pen to curl the edges. I wanted them to look like they were blowing in the breeze. Some twine and enamel dots finish off my card.

Winter Wonderland Ride

Welcome to September! Time for the new Seasons of Celebration release and a new Fall/Halloween challenge - what better way to start the month!

My challenge card features "Winter Horse Ride" and the "Snowflake Background" from the new release! I loved to ride my horse on the trails in the winter when the sun was out to warm us up and the snow was falling gently around us. He didn't need anything extra - he always grew a big thick winter coat so he was warm!!!

I started by stamping the new snowflake background stamp with Versamark and heat embossing white embossing powder to create my background. Then I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut it out. The sentiment was printed off my computer and then the winter wonderland sentiment was stamped on. Snow banks were added using a die to cut out some curves. Some tree dies with glitter snow, white and gold ribbon and some sparkly gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Winter Horse Ride, Snowflake Background - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Winter Wonderland - High Hopes Rubber Stamps, Georgia font - computer

Polar Bear Sleigh Ride

It's September 1st and that means it's time for the new Seasons of Celebration release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps AND a new Fall/Halloween challenge! What a great way to start the month - some fun, cute new winter/Christmas themed stamps!

My card features "Polar Sleigh" from the new release. How much fun are these two having jumping snow drifts on their sleigh! We had a hill we used to love to jump with our crazy carpets........and the landing wasn't always soft!

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and hand fussy cutting it out leaving a thin white edge. I left some solid white parts because these cuties are mounted on the card using a mini action wobble so they move and wiggle every time the card is moved. I added some snow banks cut out using a stitched hills die, trees in the background, and some icicles to help create my winter scene. Some twine and a sentiment stamped directly on the snow finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Polar Sleigh - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Think Snow - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Forsted - Kaisercraft
Tuxedo Black ink - Memento,  Misti,  Best Glue Ever - ScraPerfect, White Gelly Roll pen,  stitched square and double stitched hills dies - YNS, mini action wobble - Hampton Art, Bakers twine, icicle die - Impression Obsession, Fresh Pine Trio die - Memory Box, Stardust Stickles - Ranger
