Just Because Dragon

Dreamy Dragon has been in my stamp stash for awhile now and today I am taking a break from Christmas cards to colour this cutie up. I like to colour something completely different when I have creative block, it often helps kick start the creative train.
I like to have "just because" type cards in my stash to send to friends or family members who may need a little pick me up.
Dreamy Dragon is so relaxed and peaceful and just makes me smile. I hope he brings a smile to whom ever I end up sending him to as well.

After colouring the stamp with alcohol markers and Prisma pencils I cut him out using an oval die. I cut a second die for the background and off set it slightly from the main image. I chose patterned paper from Lawn Fawn and inked all the edges with antique linen distress ink to make the layers pop a little.
I will probably end up mailing this card so my embellishments of ribbon, shaped sprinkles and flowers helped keep my design mailable.
Twinkle Stickles (hard to see in the photo) were added to the flower centres and the dreamy dots around the dragon. I cut a cloud die and used baby blue ink to create my clouds for the background.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Dreamy Dragon (digital) - Whimsy Stamps
Sentiment: Everyday Mini Sentiments - Whimsy Stamps

Just Because

I don't know about you but I can never have too many Just Because and Sending Smiles type cards in my stash.
It makes it easy to grab a card and send it to a friend or family member who needs a pick me up or to know that I am thinking about them.

"Sweet Carlina" from Digi Doodle Studios is the star of the latest card to add to my stash.

I printed the stamp a little larger then I intended but it all worked out in the end. It is coloured with alcohol markers and I added some shading with Prismacolor pencils. Next I hand fussy cut her and went around the edges with a black marker to get any white I had missed. I added this sweetie to digital paper from DDS and Lawn Fawn. Some stitched clouds and a fun heart flower border helped me build a subtle scene. Enamel dots and ribbon finish off my card.

Best Friends

This stamp drawn by the talented Crissy Armstrong has been on my wish list for forever so when it came out as a digital stamp I knew I needed to get it off my wish list once and for all.
There is something about this stamp.......for me there are no words. I find it so calming - maybe it's because it reminds me and my horse and the relationship we had. This stamp just makes my heart happy and I am glad I finally had time to colour it up.

I printed the stamp to the size I wanted and then coloured it with alcohol markers and Prismacolor pencils. I wanted to do a simple design to keep the focus on this gorgeous stamp. Paper from Simple Stories and Echo Park were perfect. A simple heart banner, cotton lace, wood horseshoe and gumdrops were the perfect pieces to finish off my card.
I decided not to include a sentiment on the front and will include it on the inside when I decide what event I will give it for.

Rocking Horse Christmas

I am a horse lover through and through and I have a lot of horse loving friends. I try to use a different stamp every year for my horsey Christmas cards and this "Rocking Horse" digital stamp from Whimsy is perfect for one of the cards I need for this year.
I decided to make this one with an acetate front for something different.

After printing and colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and a prisma pencil, I hand fussy cut it and went around the edge with a black marker to cover any white I had missed. It is hard to see in the photo but I added a clear sparkle pen to the bow.
Next I cut my card base, cardstock and gorgeous patterned paper from the Winter's Magic Blue digital paper pack. I cut it to fit the inside and then held my breath and stamped my sentiments using my Misti. The "and" sign in between my sentiments is added with a black marker.
I used a stitched border trio die to cut my snow banks and added a few die cut trees.
Some sparkly ribbon and gum drops finish off my card.

Ridiculously Amazing!

My GD card this month features the gorgeous Heidi Autumn stamp from Digi Doodle Designs coloured on with some non traditional fall colours.

I wanted the "feel" of this card to match the sentiment - fun, uplifting and encouraging. As I was colouring, the colours took on a life of their own and I ended up using some of the "lighter" colours of fall. Not at all what I had pictured and truthfully this one went totally sideways from what I had going on in my head but I am happy with the outcome.

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers, I cut it out with a dotted oval die. I printed my digital papers, cut them to fit my card and inked the edges on each piece.  I love the light airy feeling of the paper and decided it matched my card theme perfectly. A fun gingham bow and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Where Your Acorns Are

This new release "So Nuts About Home" digital stamp just cracks me up! There is an amazing line up of gorgeous new stamps and paper this month but when I saw this cutie I had to colour him up first!

I seriously don't think he could fit one more acorn in his mouth do you?!

After colouring up this stamp - chuckling the whole time I might add - I cut it out using a dotted rectangle die. I wanted to keep my layout and papers quite simple but tried to keep the "homey" feel and keep the focus on this fun stamp.
The sentiment was designed on my computer - I couldn't help myself - this saying was going through my head the whole time I was working with this stamp!
Some lace ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Bubble Your Troubles Away

I don't know about anyone else but sometimes I just "need" a bubble bath. It gives me some time to put my brain in neutral and just relax.
My favourite bubble bath was called "Chocolate Fudge Sundae". Unfortunately the don't make it any more but it made the whole upper floor of my house smell like chocolate! Heaven right?!

My card features "Penguin Bubble Bath" digital stamp by the talented Crissy Armstrong. I love Crissy's penguins and this one sure brought back some wonderful memories of chocolate bubble baths and relaxation!

I coloured up this fun stamp with alcohol markers and cut it out with a label die. I added a fun polka dot pattern to her shower cap just for fun!  I wanted to keep my design quite simple and I tried to keep my colours "calming". The bubbles are coloured with a sparkle maker (hard to see in the photo) so they are all quite sparkly in real life.
The sentiment was created on my computer and cut out with a classic circle die. A few vines, flower and gumdrops finish off my card.

Feeling Down?

Welcome to Day 3 of the new digital release at Whimsy Stamps!

My new release card features the new "Western Pony" digital stamp. When I had my horse, for me the biggest stress reliever "put life back in perspective" moments were all on the back of my horse.

We loved to trail ride and he loved to keep me on my toes on every ride. For me the sentiment sticker I had in my stash sums things up perfectly! Life always felt more manageable after a trail ride.

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and pencils I hand fussy cut it and ran a black maker around the edge to get any white I had missed.
I added some silver wink of stella to parts of the saddle, bridle and breast plate on the buckles and conchos.
My card base was cut with a side step die and I added digital paper from the "Floral Grass" digital paper collection. The sentiment is a sticker from my stash. The lasso and cowboy boot are from Jolee's and Dress It Up buttons.

Life's Ruff

When I saw this Thea & Chloe Shih-tzu digital stamp from Digi Doodle Studios I knew I had to have it!
My side kick and favourite companion is a Shih-tzu mix.......we think. We adopted him so we really aren't sure what he is but my vet thinks he definitely has shih-tzu in him. She refers to him as a shih-poo so that is what we're going with.
It really doesn't matter to me what breed he is or isn't.....he is my shadow and best bud and makes me laugh every day!

I printed off and coloured my stamp with alcohol markers and pencils and cut it out with a stitched square die. I added some clouds to the background with a cloud shape die and ink.
Next I printed off two of the digital papers included in the Angels On Earth digital paper pack and cut them to fit my card design. The sentiment was printed and added along with the die cut fence. Some gumdrops, ribbon and a paw print charm finish off my card.

Winter Wishes

I am getting a head start on my Christmas cards. Anyone else with me?
The "Led By Love" digital stamp has been in my to colour pile for a little while now so I decided this is the perfect time to colour it up!

I coloured this fun stamp with alcohol markers and then hand fussy cut it. There were a few minor "accidents" with the fussy cutting but nothing a few strategically placed spots of glue couldn't fix . Next I printed my digital paper and placed my layers. I added some snow banks that I cut out of glitter paper and added an icicle border with the same paper. The scene itself is popped up with foam dots.
The sentiment is from the clear Holiday Mini sentiments set - so many wonderful sentiments to choose from in this set!  Some ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Happy Hello

How fun is the new "Penguin Campfire" digital stamp from Whimsy Stamps!

We went camping a lot as kids and this stamp sure brought back some fun memories! Making s'mores in the middle of the day for a snack, sitting around the campfire under the stars at night snuggled up in a hoodie and a blanket to name a few.

It was so much fun to colour this stamp and have such wonderful memories come flooding back!

I printed my stamp to the size I wanted, coloured it with alcohol markers and cut it out using a classic square die. I found the patterned paper I wanted to use and cut it to size. I used a border die to cut the top off the polka dot paper to create my hill in the background and added some fun die cut trees. The sentiment was printed to size and cut out using a fish tail banner die. Some twine and enamel dots finish off my card.

Very Present Gift Bag

I love when you get to play with a new stamp and it brings back fond memories. "Very Present Helpers" from the new digital release did just that for me!

I used to have a cat named Smokey who loved to "help" me wrap presents and tie the bows. I had to double check more then once that he wasn't literally being wrapped in the present.

I used this super cute stamp to make a gift bag and some dies from Whimsy were perfect to make my gift tag. (links below)

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers, added some glittery stickles to the bow and set it aside. I made my gift bag based loosely on a card purse tutorial I found on Splitcoaststampers. I cut and assembled my bag - paper from the Fantasy Papers 1 digital paper set were perfect. Next I cut my tag shape and added my heart and paw print die and stamped my sentiment.

Yule Log Christmas

It's only 10 days until the big day! and I am feverishly still trying to get some Christmas cards done! The Christmas Wish Sentiments set created by the oh so talented Tracy Wray was perfect to help me get another card done and include in this month's Anything Goes challenge at Whimsy Stamps.

How cute is this little bird with his Santa hat and a branch of good cheer! My brother in law loves the outdoors so I think this card is perfect for him!

I printed my stamp to the size I wanted (gotta love digi stamps!) and coloured it with alcohol markers. My hand stitched nested rectangle dies were the perfect size to cut this cutie out and a sentiment from the Christmas Time Sentiment set fit perfectly! Some fun coloured snow, ribbon, snowflakes, branch dies and gumdrops finish off my card.

Reindeer Wishes

Welcome back to another Anything Goes Challenge at Whimsy Stamps. This month I am still working away at my Christmas cards. When I saw the reindeer set by Tracy Wray, I knew they were perfect for one of my nephews Christmas cards.

After printing my stamp to the size I wanted I coloured it with Spectrum Noir Alcohol makers. I cut my patterned paper to fit my 5x5 card size and glued it down. The frantage I used on the circle around my stamp went a little crazy - who knew it would stick where there's no versa mark ink?! but I decided to use the image anyway since it looks like he is in a snowfall. I cut and layered some snowflakes from the retired snowflake border die and added them to some leaves from Crissy Armstrong's new Christmas Branches die set. Some sparkly gumdrops, stickles on his hat and a twine bow finish off my card.

Card Recipe
