Sweet Birthday Wishes

July is a big month for Birthday's in my family. I have more masculine cards then feminine to make for adults and young adults. Masculine cards are always a challenge for me but I think "Sweet Thing" is perfect for one of my younger card recipients.

After colouring up this fun ant with his huge cupcake with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I found a paper combination from YNS and Lawn Fawn that I liked and put my design together. The sentiment was stamped and cut with a fishtail banner die. I added a piece of matching fish tail flag banner to add a fun element. Lastly I added the stamped and coloured image using foam pop dots.
Some simple gumdrops finish off my card. Here's hoping one of my nephews enjoys their Birthday card.

Stamp: Sweet Thing - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

No Clue

This week I am having some fun with Little Sleuth and Watson from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.
I don't know why but these stamps both make me giggle. Today we find our friends looking at the list of clues to try to figure out what event they will be celebrating. Watson has his nose on the gifts....I think he thinks the gifts will be for him and contain treats!

After colouring the stamps with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut them and ran a black Memento marker around the edge to fix any white I had left. I had some fun on my computer coming up with a list of clues and then printed them on lined paper in a light grey. I wanted them to feel mysterious which is why I printed them in grey. I used a letter edge die to make the list look like it had been ripped off a pad of paper.
After cutting my patterned paper to size I stamped some confetti on one - again in light grey and it adds to the clues.
The sentiment comes as one sentiment in two lines but I masked off each line and stamped them separately. Some simple gumdrops finish off my card.

Stamp: Little Sleuth, Watson -  High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment - No Clue

Doggie Ice Cream

Welcome back to a new Anything Goes Challenge at Whimsy Stamps.

My card features the oh so cute Doggie Ice Cream by Crissy Armstrong. I love this stamp! It combines two of my favourite things - dogs and ice cream.

I have 5 nephews so I can never have too many masculine Birthday cards in my stash. It helps that a few of them like dogs, this will be the perfect card for one of them.

I printed my stamp, coloured it with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and cut it out using a Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles die and a stitched border die. I used a mix of digital and traditional patterned papers to create my card base. The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a label die. Some twine and photo corners finish off my card.

Bubble Bath Shower

Welcome back! My post today is sharing an older High Hopes stamp called "Bubble Bath Bradley". When I saw this stamp I immediately thought baby card!
Since it is a bubble bath theme, I decided I would make a card for my stash for a baby shower. The inside will be filled in once I have a shower to go to - no there aren't any in my near future that I know of - this cutie is for my stash.

I coloured the main stamp with alcohol markers but for the bubbles and water I added some glitter pen. Man glitter pens are hard to get a good photo of!!! I cut everything out with a classic circle die and my Fiskars circle cutter. I formed my card base and added paper from the Pebbles Lullaby collection. Twine, a flower from my stash, sentiment and gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Bubble Bath Bradley - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: It's A Baby Shower - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Lullaby - Pebbles
Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Misti, classic circle die - Spellbinders, Moonstone Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen, cotton candy blue gumdrops - Your Next Stamp, twine - American Crafts

Under The Bonnet

As crafters, we all have that time in our lives when we need a masculine themed Birthday card.
This digital image called "Under The Bonnet" from Lily Of The Valley is perfect for our adult son's birthday card - shh don't tell him, he will receive it later today.

I coloured this super cute stamp with alcohol markers and then cut it out using a classic square die. I added it to patterned paper from Echo Park and snuck a piece of denim in from my stash. A simple sentiment, a metal wrench - appropriate right?! and some gumdrops finish off my card.

Half The Fun

With fall comes different responsibilities around the farm. As kids, we often tried to find fun ways to get our responsibilities done - this stamp reminds me of that. I mean what is more fun then a "hay ride" to take a chicken back to it's coop?!? We didn't necessarily always think things through  ......but boy did we have fun getting our work done!

After colouring my stamp with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers, I cut it out using a stitched rectangle die. I think the paper from Simple Stories has a country feel to it - perfect for my card. Some twine, punched maple leaves and my fav - gumdrops finish off my card.

Dragon Birthday

This month our challenge theme is "My Favourite Things". I have gone through my High Hopes stamps and the website and have chosen stamps that represent my favourite things and I will share a different my favourite thing each week.

This week my card brings back memories of camping with my family when I was younger. We always had a campfire - love a campfire! - at night and toasted marshmallows, made spider wieners or even the odd time had a hamburger made over the fire...maybe not the best bedtime snack but boy were they good! My nephew loves to build a fire and toast marshmallows too so I thought these stamps were perfect for his birthday card! He is turning 16 so I had to do something teenage and masculine - yikes!

I started by colouring my stamps with alcohol markers and hand fussy cutting them out. I cut my white cardstock piece and placed my circle die where I wanted it cut out. Next I placed my sentiment and with the help of my Misti, it is perfectly positioned. I added some night starry sky patterned paper behind the circle and some glittery gumdrops to finish off my card. The dragon is also popped up with foam pop dots just for fun.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Smore Dragon, Campfire - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Happy Birthday Block - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Beautiful Day

Welcome to the new challenge at High Hopes Rubber Stamps! This month we are featuring "My Favourite Things" It can be a favourite food, High Hopes stamp, colour.....anything that is your favourite - how fun is that!?!

My card today features a number of stamps from High Hopes that show some of my favourite things.  I LOVE being on the farm - for me there is nothing like it especially when the hay is being cut - one of my favourite smells even though I won't admit I'm allergic to it! I used to love sitting on a hay bale listening to my horse munch on his hay - he was in his own little heaven when he got his hay and I found the sound of him doing that very calming.

Although I chose to use a boy sitting on the hay bale it gets the idea of one of my favourite things across
I started by colouring all of my stamps and then hand fussy cutting a couple of them. I used a die to cut some hills which I wanted to look like plowed fields in front of my farm background. Some wood paper was perfect for my little scene and some Nuvo crystal drops were the perfect finishing touch. For me, the sentiment was perfect - sitting on a hay bale at the farm is a beautiful day!

Howdy

This week I am getting in touch with my country side. I grew up in town but I had a number of friends and an aunt and uncle who had farms that I spent my summer vacations going to.

I learned how to milk cows, pick stones in the fields and clean out pig pens and much more!We worked hard ..... and yes we had some fun too! Honestly I'm a farm girl at heart.

"Clarebelle & Riley" bring back some very fun memories for me!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers, I cut it out using a stitched square die. The sentiment is part of a larger sentiment but I thought it fit this stamps perfectly.
I really wanted to find a way to combine patterned paper that in my mind have kind of a country feel to them - gingham, burlap, denim and barn board. I was able to combine paper from two different companies and my stash to achieve my country feel.
Some matching blue gumdrops finish off my card.

Stamps: Clarabelle & Riley - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Howdy Pardner - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Tiny Checks - MFT, Snap Basics - Simple Stories,

Rock On

Happy April 1 and High Hopes Spring 2016 Collection New Release day! This release is FULL of fun, cute, awesome images - be sure to pop over to the website and take a look.

My post today features "Rocking Out" and "Rock On". Who knew Gabriel is a drummer and has his very own album too! Today we find him jamming in his warehouse space and having a great time doing it!

This new release also has SVG files (sold separately) for each of the images and sentiments so for this card I could give my manicure scissors a break. After cutting out my image, I coloured it with alcohol markers and mounted it on the background SVG file I had cut. The sentiment is cut out with the SVG files as well. I tore some paper from the So Rad paper pad (Simple Stories) 6x6 collection and added some brick pattern embossed cardstock to give it my "warehouse" feel. A half circle was cut in the top to allow the record inside to peek out. My card is finished off with White, Orange and Blueberry Gumdrops from Your Next Stamp.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Rocking Out (TT025), Rock On (FF005) - High Hopes Stamps
SVG Files - High Hopes Stamps (sold separately)

Sneakin' Up

This stamp just makes me giggle. I have some nephews..okay and a few men I know that would do this exact thing! Boys will be boys as they say.

My card today features an older High Hopes stamp called Sneakin' Up (can be found here). I haven't put a sentiment on the front and at this point the inside is blank until I have an occasion to need a more masculine card.

I coloured my stamp with alchohol markers, sponged the sky and added some faux stitching with a brown marker. I double matted the, added my patterned paper and layered some banners. Some gumdrops, leather lace and a cute silver frog charm finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Patterned Paper: Fern and Forest - Little Yellow Bicycle
Leather Lace: from my stash
Dies: Fishtail Banner Dies - Your Next Stamp
Enamel Dots: Gumdrops - Your Next Stamp
Frog Charm: Fashion Accessories (Len's Mill Stores)

Gabriel Loves Tubing - With A Twist

I challenged myself at the beginning of this year to try new things with my card making.
Shaker cards have always fascinated me so I thought I would give it a try on this card - or a portion of it anyway.

Should I have tried a shaker card with such a small area for my first one - probably not - will I do another shaker card in my future - absolutely!

After colouring Gabriel with alcohol markers (list below) I coloured him again to make the shaker portion of my card. This is the first time I have tried doing a shaker card. I learned a thing or two and I will do another one - a bigger one!
The tape I used has "glue" on the edges as well so the sequins stick to it but when you're using double sided tape - once it's down, it's down! Lesson learned :) but I had fun doing it! After fussy cutting the image, I made the shaker portion of the card and popped it up with pop dots.
Some twine, brads, a star fish charm and some black doodling finish off my card.

The Perfect Wave

I hope you all enjoyed a Happy Canada Day! I can't believe it's July already!!

My post today features Gabriel Loves Surfing and a sentiment from the All About Boys new release at High Hopes Stamps.

This is a side view so you can see the action wobbler spring.

I coloured the sunset using alcohol markers and added some wave patterned paper. Gabriel is fussy cut and mounted on an action wobbler spring I bought at One Crazy Stamper so he moves and wiggles when the card is moved - so fun! I added an octopus clothespin to help hold my sentiment and added a pop dot to hold it up. A few YNS gumdrops finished off my card.

Card Recipe
Patterned Paper: Go Jump in a Lake, Campout - Bella Boulevard
Jack & Jill - Boy - Echo Park
Action Wobbler Spring
Ink: Almost Navy - Stampin' Up
Felt Clothespin - Michaels
Pop Dot - Forever In Time
Enamel Dots - White Gumdrops - Your Next Stamp

Gabriel Loves Baseball

I played a little bit of baseball growing up but my main game was soccer. When I played baseball I was always put in the out field and it was often boring as not many hits travelled that far........so, I stuck with soccer.

My card today features Gabriel Loves Baseball a new stamp from High Hopes.

I went looking for an easel card with the base shaped like a diamond because when I think baseball I think baseball diamond.I couldn't find anything so I set about playing around to see what I could come up with. It took a few tries and a few misses but I finally figured out the base.

I added a handmade "pennant" and some ribbon painted with metallic paint so it looks like the chain link fence usually seen behind home plate. (it's hard to see in the photo)

I coloured Gabriel with Spectrum Noir markers and sponged some ink around him for the sky. I added the sentiment, some tan card stock (to look like sand) and finished it off with some baseball buttons (with the button hole cut off) and some stars.

Patterned Paper: Baseball - Recollections
