Chilly Penguin

I hope you have had a chance to take a look at the new Winter Joy release. It is full of super cute snowmen, dog, cat and some cute chubby penguins to name a few.

This week given our blasts of winter we've had, I chose to play with Chilly Penguin. I kinda feel like him - chilly! and all I can say is Brrrr!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and paper piecing his scarf, I cut this cutie out with a classic circle die. i used my circle cutter to cut a matching piece of cardstock to go behind him. I created my snowy scene by cutting out some stitched hills and trees and added some glittery snow to them. All of this was mounted on an easel style base and Bo Bunny patterned paper. I stamped and coloured my sentiment and added some glitter snow to that too. The purple ink turned it purple - at first I was upset about this - now I think it matches perfectly. One of those happy accidents as they say. Some ribbon and sparkly purple gumdrops finish off my card.

25 Days Of Christmas Tags

High Hopes Rubber Stamps is excited to be participating on Day 26 of the annual 25 Days of Christmas Tags hosted by Tracy McNeely on her blog: In My Creative Opinion.
I created a tag using the oh so cute Christmas Boy and Reindeer Dog and the Believe sentiment.

I cut my tag base out with my Cricut, stamped and coloured my image with alcohol markers, and hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white border. I added this to patterned paper from Your Next Stamp and a die cut circle. Some gold trim ribbon, sentiment and gumdrops finish off my tag. Star Dust Stickles on his hat give me the little bit of bling I like on my Christmas cards and tags. A sparkly pom pom on his hat was the perfect finishing touch.

Hot Chocolate Season

We have had a couple blasts of winter where I live. You know....the cold biting wind and yes even lots of snow. So far it has melted away the next day but it is a reminder that winter is just around the corner.

This also means that hot chocolate and marshmallow season is already here. There is nothing like putting on a sweater and curling up under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows. Bear-ly Warming Up from High Hopes has it right from what I can see.......

I decided to make Bear-ly Warming Up into a little gift package. I found a super easy to follow tutorial for this on the This Is Me Playing With Paper blog and made my single sided gift box. Then after colouring up this cutie I hand fussy cut him and added some sparkly Stickles to his mug. I made the sentiment using my computer printed it off and voila! Some ribbon and a few sparkly gumdrops finish off my gift.
If you're looking for me....I will be curled up under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate

Christmas Bug

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend my first crafting weekend retreat with One Crazy Stamper and Scrapbook Niagara! I had no idea what to take but I knew I had to take this super cute image from Stampingbella called "Christmas Bug". I had coloured it on Thanksgiving weekend back in October, and hadn't had a chance to get the card made.

My son's girlfriend has a tan coloured VW Bug......so when I saw this stamp, I knew it was perfect for her Christmas card!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. I added some silver sparkle pen to the ornaments on the tree and the car bumpers. I really wanted to use the licence plate die I had taken with me and used it as a place to add my sentiment. Some snowflake dies, Nuvo glitter drops, twine and enamel dots finish off my card.

Card Recipe

Winter Kitty Christmas

Did you see the new "Winter Fun" release from High Hopes yesterday?!? If you haven't - be sure to check it out!
One of the oh so cute new release stamps was this cutie "Winter Kitty". If you are a cat lover or have a cat lover in your life, then this a stamp you will want in your collection!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers, I cut it out using a circle die. I added Liquid Applique to the hat and scarf for some texture. I found out the hard way, you have to completely dry/puff up the applique with your heat gun - if there are any spots that are still wet and you run it through a die cutting machine ......well let's just say it's a mess - lesson learned - die cut then add liquid applique. After I was set (the second time), I added my stamp to paper from Simple Stories and added some ribbon and a bow. Some photo corners and gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Winter Kitty - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Meowy Christmas Saying - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Cozy Christmas - Simple Stories
Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Misti, classic circle die - Spellbinders, Fiskars circle cutter, liquid applique, Be Creative Tape (3 mm), Celebrate It ribbon, Holly Berry Red gumdrops - YNS

Fabulous Friend

Welcome to our Anything Goes challenge at Whimsy Stamps.
This month my card features one of Crissy Armstrong's oh soo cute penguins! I chose to use "Penguin Fliesfor a card for a very dear friend of mine who has done something for me that really means alot. She really lifted me up and I thought this stamp was a perfect way to thank her for being such a good friend.

After printing my stamp to the size I wanted I coloured it with Spectrum Noir Alcohol makers and hand fussy cut it leaving a small white border. I added some fun polka dots and hearts to the balloons with a white gel pen. I printed my digital paper and cut is to fit my card base. The cherry blossom panel die, some ribbon and a flower finish off my card.

Cowgirl Winter Fun!

Welcome to the "Winter Joy" new release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps!

I had the pleasure of working with "Snowman Cowboy".....a perfect stamp for me for those that know me . I was a bit of a rebel with this one - I decided to make it a snowman Cowgirl!

Our cowgirl is done her chores and what is a gal to do once chores are done and she needs some winter fun?!? Why try to lasso a snowflake of course!!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I cut it out using a circle die and added some stitch marks using a die as well. I stamped and fussy cut my snowflake leaving a small white border and added some Stickles to it for a little bling. I also added Stickles to the snow on the fence. I stamped the sentiment - perfect for this card I think - and cut it out using a stitched oval die. Some fun bobble ribbon as I call it and sparkly gumdrops finish off my card.

Believe!

As I child I always wondered what it would be like to be able to fly like one of Santa's reindeer. We went to Santa's Village in Bracebridge and I was fascinated by this place - it was all things Christmas year round.

It even had live reindeer and I always wondered if one of them worked for Santa! Our friend Rodney Reindeer is dreaming of the day he is big enough to help pull Santa's sleigh......but first he has to grow a little.....and then he has to Believe in the Magic......

I started my A2 size card by stamping Rodney Reindeer, colouring him with alchohol markers and fussy cutting him with cuticle scissors. I added him to patterned paper from an older Bo Bunny collection. The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a fish tail banner die and I stamped a santa and sleigh from another stamp set above Rodney's head. It's hard to see on the photo but the rings on his harness are coloured with a Sterling Silver Sparkle Pen. A matching holly die, ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.

Peace, Joy, Love

I hope you have been enjoying this month's digital release from Whimsy Stamps!
I had the chance to work with "Leap Of Joy". How fun is this reindeer leaping through the air!?! I think it is one of Santa's reindeer practicing for the big night don't you?

I decided to create a fun little scene in a shadow box style card. I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers, added some sparkle with Stickles and Nuvo Gitter Drops and then hand fussy cut him out. I ran a black marker around the edge just to clean up any white I may have missed and to give it a finished look.

To decorate my shadow box front, I used dies from the Christmas Branches die set and the Build a Poinsettia die set. A stitched border die from the Stitched Border Die Trio was perfect to help make my snow banks. The sky is ink blended with distress inks and a light snow fall was added with a white gel pen.

No Peeking or Poking

This month the challenge at High Hopes is Winter Fun. Part of winter is Christmas and part of Christmas is hunting for your hidden gifts even though you've been told not to.
Then when you find them..........when no one is around of course you just want to pick them up and shake them to see if you can guess what it is.......or was it just my brothers that did that?!

I started my A2 size card by stamping Teddy Gift. I masked him off and added some more presents around him by stamping the Presents stamp. After colouring my image with alcohol markers (colour combo was inspired by a fellow designer who's name starts with "C") I hand fussy cut him with my cuticle scissors and an exacto knife and added some freckles with a brown marker.

I added this cutie popped up with foam dots so paper from the A Perfect Christmas by Echo Park. A polka dot embossing folder gave me some texture behind my stamp and some matching gumdrops finish off my card.

Puppy Christmas

This month I got to create with an older stamp called "Christmas Treat". I have a dog and it is always fun to bring him treats - any new toy that squeaks is a hit in his world! He also loves his cheddar cheese flavoured snacks........yes he is a spoiled little man!!

I wonder what Santa will bring him this year.......

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers, I cut it out using a stitched oval die. I added this super cute image to paper from the Mad 4 Plaid collection from Photo Play. A die cut holly in the corner and some fun paw print curling ribbon from my stash and my favourite embellishment - gumdrops finish off my card.
