Fall Is Here!

Fall is here and this week my card was inspired by all of the gorgeous fall decor I see in my daily travels to and from work and around town. I see so many beautiful fall displays with everything from pumpkins to scarecrows and everything in between. This card has used a lot of stamps from High Hopes (list below the pictures) and involved a lot of fussy cutting but I am happy with how it turned out!

I stamped on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured with Copic and Spectrum Noir markers and hand fussy cut the images. I ran a black marker around the edges to make sure I got any white I had missed. I decided to keep the patterned paper neutral because there are so many images in my scene. After cutting a circle in a piece of card stock, I put some blue paper behind it and inked all of the edges with Ground Espresso Distress ink. I cut some clouds with a die and glued them in the sky.
Next, I added the stamped images to create my scene, coloured the sentiment sign and added it using a brad.
Some enamel dots finish off my card.

Thanksgiving Mice

The leaves are starting to turn beautiful fall colours where I live and that means fall and Thanksgiving are just around the corner. I feel the leaves are changing early this year but it has inspired me to get my Thanksgiving cards started. White pumpkins are very popular where I live so I stepped out of my comfort zone and coloured the pumpkin on the "Harvest Mice" stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps as a white pumpkin instead of the traditional orange for my first Thanksgiving card of the year. How cute are these three!?!

After stamping on to alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured with Copic markers, added polka dots to the dress with a white gel pen and added some clouds with a cloud die cut and Tumbled Glass Distress ink. Then, I cut the image to size to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" card base and cut the bottom with a stitched edge die. I set that aside and cut some card stock and polka dot paper from Simple Stories to add to the card base. I used the same stitched border die for the card stock to put behind the stamp to help it stand out better. I stamped and cut the sentiment and tucked it under the stamped image. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Rudy's Happy Harvest

It is time for crops to be harvested and that means my daily commute usually includes a tractor or two. Crops are coming off the fields and the farmers are working hard to feed their families and animals. One of the places I drive by has a garden at the front of a corn field and for awhile they had a homemade scarecrow "standing" at the edge of the garden. It made me smile to see the aluminum pie plates blowing in the breeze and inspired my card featuring "Lg. On Guard Rudy" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. He is going to be happy to rest after the crops are off the fields and the produce is out of the garden!

After stamping Rudy on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge to help him stand out on my background. I found a piece of blue paper in my stash for the sky and added that to a piece of  card stock and patterned paper from Echo Park.
To create my scene, I die cut some grass, clouds and a fence and added them to the blue paper.  I used the cut off piece of patterned paper to add a few pieces to the side to help tie the card together. A stamped sentiment cut with a fish tail banner and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Pumpkin Thank You

Sometimes someone does something so kind that just saying thank you isn't enough so I like to send a card. I love the "Pumpkin Border" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps so I decided to use it for a seasonal thank you card for just such a person.

I had a "plan" for this stamp and card design but when I started putting my plan together thing went sideways real quick. In the process of trying to make my original plan work I ended up coming up with a mini slim line design that actually works a lot better then what I had planned - can you say happy accident?

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper I coloured it with Copic markers and hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. Patterned paper from Echo Park and Lawn Fawn helped my create the background for my card. I cut the sky using a circle die and cut some off the bottom to give my the half circle shape. Next I added the fence and grass dies and added the pumpkin border on top. The sentiment is masked out of a larger sentiment - I love stretching my supplies by doing this! A gingham ribbon bow, some falling leaf die cuts with inked edges and enamel dots finish off my card.

First Day of Fall

Happy first day of fall! Fall means cooler temperatures, pumpkin patches and corn mazes to run through and October and Thanksgiving are just around the corner. To help ring in a new season I have chosen to use "Country Harvest" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps a gorgeous fall stamp and I think perfect for a Thanksgiving card too!

After stamping and colouring the stamp with copic markers, I used a stitched edge die to cut an the bottom of the stamp. The stitches don't show but I wanted a clean curve edge for my design. I wanted to keep the patterned paper for the background and card design simple to keep the focus on the stamp so I chose a simple wood grain paper and put it on a 6x6 card base. After cutting the curve edge I mounted it on matching card stock and cut the edge again. To add a bit of colour I added some pieces of gingham patterned paper. A sentiment, twine and enamel dots finish off the card.

Happy Harvest

I live in a rural area and one of the reasons fall is my favourite time of year is that around where I live and on my drive to work, I pass many fresh farm produce stands at the end of farm lane ways. I don't always get a chance to stop but when I do, I enjoy fresh corn, peas, squash, flowers - I've seen some huge sunflowers this year, eggs and beans to name a few. "Happy Harvesting" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps reminds me of these stands because I think it looks like he is taking his fresh produce out to put on his stand. It all looks very yummy!

I stamped this adorable gnome on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured him with Copic markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. I set him aside and gathered the dies and patterned paper from Echo Park and Craft Consortium that I wanted to use on my card. I cut my paper pieces to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" card base and then cut the fence, grass, trees and clouds for my scene. I cut and glued down each piece, added the stamp to the middle section and popped the section up with foam pop dots. To finish my card I stamped the sentiment and added it to matching card stock, added some ribbon and a bow and enamel dots.

If Friends Were Pumpkins

Every once and awhile, I like to shake things up in my crafty brain and challenge myself to use a stamp for a different occasion then it was intended for. "Pumpkin Buddies" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps is a Halloween themed stamp but I have chosen to do something different with it and use it for a friendship card.

Friends come in all shapes and sizes and we sometimes make friends in the most unlikely places so I have paired the pumpkin buddies with the Chubby Pumpkins stamp so it looks like they are in a pumpkin patch.

I stamped the chubby pumpkins (twice) and pumpkin buddies on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured them with Copic markers. I set the buddies aside, cut the pumpkins out with a stitched rectangle die and added some puffy clouds with a cloud die and distress ink to create the "pumpkin patch" background. Next I coloured the pumpkin buddies and hand fussy cut them leaving a thin white edge.
I cut some patterned paper from the Pumpkin Spice paper pad by Simple Stories and glued down my layers after mounting them on matching card stock. Next, I masked off the sentiment, stamped each line separately, cut them and put them on matching card stock. I added some twine to the bottom of the card and glued down the sentiment piece and added the second line of the sentiment to the top of the card. Pumpkin buddies are added with foam squares to help them stand off the front of the card and enamel dots finish it off.

Happy Fall

I love having seasonal cards in my stash. The inside is left blank so I can include a sentiment for whatever the reason I am sending a card - thank you, just a note and thinking of you to name a few. When I saw the "Ryan & Ainsley" stamp in the High Hopes line up I knew they would be perfect to not only help celebrate fall but to add to my stash. How cute are these two!?!!

I stamped these cuties on alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured them with Copic markers and cut them out using a circle die. I didn't colour the grass all the way down to the bottom of the circle so I cut the bottom of the circle off and mounted it on a piece of card stock. Patterned paper from the Fall pad from Echo Park worked perfectly for my card. After cutting a piece of the gingham paper to fit the card base, I cut a matching piece with a banner die. I didn't have the next size up to create a card stock banner to put it so I traced the outside of the banner die and cut it to size.
Next, I cut a piece of flower paper to go in between the gingham layers and added it to matching card stock. I like putting the card stock behind each layer as I think it helps define each layer. I masked off the sentiment - it has a "y'a'll" at the end of it - with a post it note, inked and stamped it and added it to a piece of card stock. Some cotton lace ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Something Yummy

Fall is fresh apple season - welcome fall! When we were kids, one or our chores was to pick the apples that grew on the trees in our back yard. This wasn't necessarily one of our favourite chores and there may or may not have been a few rotten apple fights over the years.

Annie's Bushel from High Hopes brought back some fun memories! Somehow these apples magically made it in to fresh apple pie, apple crisp and apple dumplings. We weren't complaining about picking them then <wink> so I decided to create a pocket on my card front that holds one of these amazing recipes.

I stamped Annie with tuxedo black Memento ink, coloured her up with Copic markers and hand fussy cut her leaving a thin white edge. Patterned paper from Bo Bunny was perfect and I inked all of the edges to help them pop a little.

Next I measured the recipe card and cut a piece of card stock (an inch larger than I needed it) and scored it at half an inch on one side and the ends to create my pocket. I glued it down and added a matching pull tab to the corner of the recipe. I cut the patterned paper and added an apple eyelet - thank you Cheri! A simple ribbon bow and enamel dots finish off my card.

Camp Fire Fun

I love camp fires and the cool nights of fall are my favourite time to put on a sweater and sit around a camp fire.
My brother is the master of fires in our family and prides himself on building and creating the biggest one the space we are in allows. They are not the kind of fire that you are able to toast marshmallows on until they have burned for a couple of hours so these adorable friends from High Hopes would have to wait a bit to do their toasting on one of my brother's fires.

After colouring these cuties with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut them and set them aside. I mixed and matched patterned paper from four different paper pads to create my design. Some brads from my stash and a few leaf die cuts finish off my card.

Fall Pumpkin Patch

Fall is just around the corner and that means the pumpkin patches will soon be open to pick the perfect pumpkin or pumpkins for your fall decor, Halloween or baking your favourite fall treat...pumpkin pie - yum!

"Pumpkin Patch" from High Hopes reminds me of the fun days ahead.

I coloured this fun stamp with alcohol markers and Prisma pencils for some shading. I originally cut this out with rectangle die......but I messed up the clouds so........fussy cutting it was! The background is created with some inked clouds and a grass tuft die and the stamp is glued on top. The sentiment is masked off from a larger sentiment and all the edges were inked with versa mark ink.  I kept the design of this one a little more simple to keep the focus on this gorgeous stamp. Paper from Simple Stories and Echo Park were perfect for a bit of a country feel. Some enamel dots and ribbon are the finishing touches.

Carrot Harvest Express

Fall is my favourite season. I love the cooler temperatures and snuggling up in my cozy sweaters. It is also my favourite time because the fresh produce stands start popping up at the end of the farm lane ways and at the farm markets where I live.

"Carrot Express"  is "technically" a spring themed stamp but I wanted to challenge myself to use it in a different way. I created a scene where he is sitting in front of his carrot patch waiting for people to come purchase his carrots. And truthfully, his little red carrot express wagon just makes me smile!

I coloured up this cutie with alcohol markers, added some shading with Prisma pencils and hand fussy cut him. After setting him aside, I started building my scene. Carrot tops from the Just Because Cards Cricut cartridge were perfect to help create his carrot field. Some blue paper for the sky and some stitched clouds helped finish off my scene. I cut a circle with my fiskars circle cutter and then used a circle Spellbinders die to cut out the middle. This gave me the circle to put in the background. I added the stamp using pop dots and the happy harvest sentiment, some fishtail flags and gumdrops finish off my card.
