Fall Fun!

This stamp brought back so many fun memories! When we were kids we had to rake the leaves.....of course we moaned and complained but we kept it fun by making a big pile and jumping in them! I will also admit that I loved doing this with my nieces and nephews as well. After all, if you have to do chores, you might as well try to make them fun right!?

Let me introduce you to an older High Hopes stamp called Fall Joy. How fun is this stamp!?!

I chose to keep the layout simple on this card because I wanted the stamp to be the focus. I coloured the leaves, trees and raccoons with alcohol makers and added the sky with a blue chalk pencil. I mounted the image onto some card stock and then on top of a cut in half polaroid die cut. The sentiment is some rub on letters that I have had in my possession for a very long time! I added a metal heart and some fun orange twine and a couple stitches just for fun!

Card Recipe
Patterned Paper: Autumn Splendor - We R Memory Keepers
Sentiment: Providence - Making Memories Rub On letters
Die: Instalove Polaroid Die - Your Next Stamp
Twine: Bakers Craft
Heart: Finishing Touches Craft Accents

I hope my card has inspired you to go have some fun and jump in a pile of leaves! You know ya wanna....

Get Well Soon Dance

What does a crafter do when they get the late night text from their best friend saying they are in the hospital......and you have to wait until visiting hours the next day to go see them and it's driving you crazy?

Make her a card of course! My bestie loves penguins so I chose to use this retired digital stamp to make her card. This was a challenge for me as I usually like to "have a plan" for each card I make - this one, I had to do on the fly. I hope she likes it!

I printed out my digital stamp and cut it out with a Spellbinders oval die and inked the edges. I mounted the oval on a Wobbler so it wiggles and jiggles when the card is moved. The sentiment is a stamp I have in my stash. I added a heart border and finished it off with some glitter dots.

Hope you enjoyed my super quick, unplanned post today.
Have a great day!

Eat, Drink and Be Scary!

It's hard to believe Halloween is just around the corner! We don't get trick or treaters at my house, but when I saw this cute Halloween Mini Set in the new release, I just had to play with it.

It was a bit of challenge to get a good photo of because the tube of candy kept falling down but I think I did okay.

                                                       Standing

Laying Down

Inside

I started by colouring my stamps with alcohol markers and fussy cutting them. I cut my patterned paper and die cut holes using a Spellbinders die. I added my eyelets to hold the ribbon and finished it off with some enamel dots.

I popped my stamps up with pop up dots (they are actually mounted on the inside of the card)  and did a smaller cut on the circles left after I cut the circles for the front of the card,  to "back" the stamps.

I added my candy tube filled with orange and black smarties. The inside will be finished with a hand written message. The sentiment was inspired by my fellow diva Jane by using one side of the sentiment stamp that comes with this set. The card idea was inspired by a card in an old Card Maker magazine.

Patterned Paper: Spookville - We R Memory Keepers
Eyelets: from my stash
Candy tube: unknown
Enamel Dots: Black Gumdrops - Your Next Stamp

Millwright Birthday Card

Our son is working hard towards becoming a millwright. The challenge is two fold on this card too - one it's a masculine card, two - no stamps to colour for a millwright........so I had to put my creative brain in to gear - pardon the pun....

I ran some blue cardstock through my steam punk embossing folder and then cut it apart. I added some white chalk that I smudged with paper towel to highlight the gears. I had a wood wrench in my arsenal, thank goodness, so I painted it with some silver metallic paint and voila! The sentiment was stamped and edged with some blue ink, screw brads finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Patterned Paper: So Rad - Simple Stories
Screw Brads: Recollections
Sentiment: Skinny Font - Your Next Stamp
Wrench: The Stockade
Silver Metallic Paint: Dollarama
Chalk Pencil: General's
Ink: Pumpkin Pie - Stampin' Up, Studio G

I hope our son likes this card and I hope my nephew (see post below) likes his as well. I think I will go back into my comfort zone now......even though I enjoyed the challenge of making these two cards.

Male University Student Birthday

Masculine cards are a challenge but add to that the birthday boy is a University student just adds to the challenge. Our nephew is in his first year taking environmental and business. I also don't have any "scholarly" stamps to colour so I am truly out of my comfort zone with this card.

We are celebrating his birthday today........I hope he likes the card I came up with.

For this card, I cut out the homework sign, composition book and apple from patterned paper. I stamped the word notes and created the Happy Birthday sentiment on my computer. The card is finished off with some Cotton Candy Blue enamel dots.

Card Recipe
Graph Paper: from my stash
Homework sign/Composition Book: So Rad - Simple Stories
Apple: Smarty Pants - Simple Stories
Letter Edge: My Creative Time Dies
Background paper: Basic Grey
Notes: Skinny Font - Your Next Stamp
Sentiment: Arial Rounded Bold MT font - computer

Happy Fall Y'all

The leaves are starting to turn and the temperatures are getting cooler, it's fall - I love this time of year.

For my card today I used an older High Hopes Stamped callled  Lg. On Guard Rudy and the Happy Fall Y'all (G086) sentiment. I think he is just so cute with his big flower and raven friend.

After colouring Rudy with alcohol markers and fussy cutting him, I added him to a cloud paper and cardstock background. For the brown line around my die cuts, I left the paper in the die and used a brown marker to trace around the die edge - and voila - the perfect "frame". I added some patterned paper - all scraps from my stash - and a bracket. To make the bracket I cut out a Quickutz label and just trimmed off the end. I stamped and matted my sentiment and finished my card off with some dark brown gumdrops.

Some Day Right Dad?

This card idea has been bouncing around in my head for weeks so I'm glad I finally had time to get it out.

I sponged my sky and the moon with distress inks, added some Stickles for snow and stamped Santa and his sleigh and some trees. I was getting impatient with the drying time on the Stickles but I'm glad I waited! I used a die to cut the snowbanks and created my sentiment on my computer. The reindeer are coloured with alcohol markers and the large one is fussy cut, the mini one is cut using the matching die.

Card Recipe

Stamps: Believe In The Magic (large and mini), Christmas Magic (Santa), Load Up (trees) - all Your Next Stamp
Ink: Faded Denim and Antique Linen Distress Ink

Spooktacular Friend

My card today features Scary Kitty one of the cute new releases from the Joys of the Seasons release at High Hopes Stamps. There are a ton of cute stamps in this release!  I have to be honest though.......I don't find this kitty very scary - I think it's very cute! I have a number of friends who have and love cats so it will be fun to decide who gets this one!

                                                Donna

I coloured my image with Spectrum Noir Markers and fussy cut it (no surprise lol). I popped  the stamp up and mounted it on a patterned paper and cardstock circle I cut with a Spellbinders die. I added the orange photo corners and the Whimsy corner die and finished it off with some gumdrops. I did the sentiment on my computer and printed it directly on my background paper. The brackets are a stamp and finishes off my sentiment. The finished card size is 4.5"x 4.5".

Peace Love Joy

I woke up to a feels like temperature of -4 degrees this morning! We have had a beautiful fall so far so this is a little hard to take but it did send me scurrying to my nice, warm craft room to put the finishing touches on a non traditional coloured Christmas card. I just can't believe it's October already!

This is the first time I have inked up this oh so cute "Sarah" stamp. After colouring her, I inked the edges of the label die. I added a border, poinsettia, Christmas bingo card and sentiment. I added some Frantage and gum drops to finish it off. This is my first time using Frantage - I have a new addiction I think! It is very hard to see in the photo but I added clear Wink of Stella to all the fur on the hats, coat and scarf.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Sarah (Wee Stamp), Christmas Moments - Whimsy Stamps (Sentiment)
Inks: Colorblox, Antique Lined Distress Ink
Dies: Mini Lace Corner Doily Die 1 - Whimsy, Spellbinders

Poinsettia: from my stash

Thanks for stopping by! I am off to get some things off my "to do" list .... just not sure if it will be the crafting list or the housework list.........

Christmas Carolers - October New Release Blog Hop

We are still celebrating the "Joys of the Seasons", the newest release of Christmas/Halloween/Fall rubber stamps from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. The gals from both the High Hopes and OCS Design Teams are hosting another Blog Hop from the 1st to the 5th of this month and and winner/winners will be chosen on the 7th.
You should have come from Carolina Blog.

My card for this blog hop features Carolers (TT011). How cute are these two with their bird, dog and cat! The sentiment is also a High Hopes stamp called Sm. Merry Christmas (F051).

After colouring my stamp with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cutting it, I mounted it on some snowflake paper. I added a snow bank, fence and lamp post and some fun sheet music paper. The snowflake is cut out of a snowflake border die. The sentiment is stamped on a Spellbinders label with some gold leafed thread added to it. I finished off my card with my favourite - a few gumdrops, and some Star Dust Stickles to add a hint of sparkle.
