Burt and Doris Anniversary

Wow! I can't believe it's the last week of January already! Spring will be here before we know it - yay!

This week I challenged myself to make horizontal cards. I usually make vertical cards so I wanted to try something a little different.

This week's inspiration features Burt and Doris (T909), an older stamp from High Hopes and Happy Anniversary (F120) for my sentiment (also from High Hopes).

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and then fussy cut it. This time I left a bit of white edge around it. I didn't have quite the right off white background paper I needed so I inked up a background words stamp. Then I cut out my heart diamond fold shape and added some pink cardstock in the background. I cut and matted my patterned paper from Simple Stories, added my heart border and then Burt & Doris - mounted with pop dots.  I added some glitter to Doris' earrings and necklace and Blueberry gumdrops finish off my card.

Just... Hello

Happy Thursday OCS Fans! We're one day closer to Fri-YAY and it's almost the end of January already - wow!

Some of you may have noticed a few changes in the posting schedule here at OCS.

I thought I should tell you a bit about myself. I have always done some kind of crafting and took up scrapbooking about 13 years ago.

It has only  been in the last about 21/2 years that I found my new addiction - card making, stamps and alcohol markers......oh and did I mention paper?! I admit it - my paper collection is ever growing.......and it's funny, I still don't always have just the right paper for a card I'm making - crazy how that happens isn't it?! I know I can't be alone in this dilema.....

Anyway, I will be posting and hopefully providing some inspiration for you here on Thursdays. I am honoured to be part of the super talented group of designers here at OCS.

Now enough about me - on to this weeks post! Today I am sharing a card using an older stamp from High Hopes called Sitting Kitty with Posey  (P146).

                                                         Donna

This super cute stamp is coloured with alcohol markers, cut out with a Spellbinders circle die, and "stitched" around the border. I mounted my stamp onto a doily from my stash, added my patterned paper and my "hello". My favourite - gumdrops, finish off my card.

Days Like This

I giggled right out loud when I saw this stamp for the first time. We all have "those" days once and awhile don't we? Well, our little frog friend here seems to be having one!

Our little frog friend is an older High Hopes stamp called Frog In Boxers 2 and he can be found here.

I started by colouring my image with alcohol markers, and fussy cutting him out. I added some sliver gel pen to his boxer buttons. He is mounted on a sky background with some clouds added for fun. I added a couple of clothing labels and a mini clothespin that I took apart so it isn't so bulky.

Stamps: Frog In Boxers 2 (Q126) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Valentine's - Shaker and Treat Box

It's almost Fri-YAY!!

Last week I shared a card I made after challenging myself to use a stamp in a way that might not be the first thing that comes to mind - ie. rabbit = Easter.

This week I challenged myself to do a card that wasn't in the "normal" colours for a specific day/event. For Valentine's Day I automatically think red.

I chose to go with a pink, blue and green theme for my card featuring Bear Buddies from High Hopes Rubber Stamps and mini treat box.

Mini Gift Box with Treats

Mini Gift Box
I found the pattern on a site called Aunt Annie's Crafts (here)

I coloured my image and fussy cut it and then added it to my card base. I paper pieced their boots and the bow tie is paper pieced from  Joy Ride, another High Hopes stamp.  The base was formed by tracing and cutting out a heart shape, adding some foam tape, sequins and clear beads inside. I added a bow to finish it off.
I also wanted to make a treat box to go along with my card so I googled it and found this very cute Little Gift Box . The Sweetheart candies are a wedding favour from my brother's wedding this past summer.

Gone Fishing

Winter has decided to "grace" us with her presence so I am hibernating in my craft room thinking Spring, Summer......warmth in general.  And what says warm weather better then fishing!?!

My post today features three different, older High Hopes Stamps : Scuba Kitty (S185), Bubbles (H259) and the sentiment is from Sign Post (T204)

I started by colouring my image with alcohol markers, I added Glossy Accents to the "bowl"  and fussy cut it. The water drops were a bit of a challenge but I got most of them included. The "sand" was cut from cardstock and mounted onto my background "water". I stamped some fish in the water, and created my waves at the top with a scallop punch. It is hard to see in the photo, but the "negative" pieces were used as wave peaks in the back. Once my scene was created, I mounted it on cardstock and patterned paper from Close To My Heart and My Minds Eye. I added some twine, stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a fishtail banner die and added a ticket behind and an eyelet. My card is finished off with my favourite - gumdrops in clear (for the air bubbles) and in a sparkly blue.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Scuba Kitty, Bubbles, Sign Post - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: MME, Close To My Heart
Dies: Fishtail Banner Dies, Hills Die Set - Your Next Stamp

Sending Smiles

Wow I can't believe it's Thursday again - one day closer to Fri-YAY!

When I see a bunny, I immediately think Easter but I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could come up with something different with this cute Bunny Blooms stamp from High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I have a few friends who are going through some not so fun things so I decided to make this a card that will hopefully give one of them a smile when they receive it.

I love when a stamp can be used a couple different ways.

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers and then fussy cut it. It was mounted on patterned paper and a piece of white embossed cardstock. I added a flower from my stash and some glittery gumdrops and it is very hard to see in the picture but the tulips have Clear Wink of Stella on them as well. I added a cotton ball to his tail - just for fun!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Bunny Blooms and Sending Smiles - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: SprinklesSwim Suits - Soak Up The Sun - Carta Bella

Pull My Finger!

I grew up with two brothers and I have numerous nephews so I will admit - I have been "taken" by this line on more then one occasion.

My post today features and older High Hopes stamp called Dragon's Finger  (S222). This set comes with four stamps - the dragon, fire and two sentiments - so fun!

I started by colouring my dragon and fire with alcohol markers, fussy cutting them and popped them up with foam squares. I formed my 4"x 4" card base and added my patterned papers. I used a ribbon punch and weaved some twine through it to add some texture to the card. The "Pull My Finger" sentiment comes as one piece but I cut it apart so I could stamp it in a straight line. I inked the edges of both sentiments and mounted them. Gumdrops are the finishing touch.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Dragon's Finger (High Hopes)
Patterned Paper: Necessities - Wood (MME), K and Company
Dies: Classic Square (Spellbinders)
Punch: Ribbon Punch (EK Success)
Twine (Bakers Craft)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Garden Green (Stampin' Up)
3D Foam Squares: Scrapbook Adhesives
Gumdrops (Your Next Stamp)

Spectrum Noir Markers: GC1 CG2 DG3 JG6 CT4 GB5 OR1

I hope you have enjoyed my post today - and if you get asked ... don't pull the finger!!!!

You Brighten My Day

Today is my first post for One Crazy Stamper and I am so excited to be crafting with this super talented team!

After doing Christmas/winter themed cards for the last little while it was fun to pull out my brighter, colourful markers to color up this cutie!

I am using an older stamp from High Hopes called Little Miss Springtime.

Sparkly Close Up

The stamp is coloured with alcohol markers and then some sparkle was added to the flowers. The paper edges are inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I also inked the edges of the photo corner and vine die cuts.  The sentiment was created on my computer and then cut with a rectangle die.

Dashing Through The Snow

A New Year means new adventures right?!

I am honoured and so excited to be joining the super talented group of ladies on the One Crazy Stamper Design Team.

Each one of them amazes me with their talent and the inspiration they provide! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of them better.

A new month also means a new challenge at One Crazy Stamper. Our challenge for January is Anything Goes. You can use any stamp (except a digital stamp) so it's easy to come play along!

My card for the challenge features two stamps from High Hopes - Sleigh Ride (SS004) and Classy Clydesdale (T506).

I kept the layout simple on this card although there was quite a bit of fussy cutting involved! I mounted my images on patterned paper and I wanted to do something different for the snow so I found some shredded snow at the dollar store(it is actually shreaded pieces of plastic).

The sentiment was created on my computer and mounted on patterned paper. The gold bells are from The Stockade and the cord is from my stash. I finished my card off with some Blueberry Gumdrops - yum!!

Card Recipe
Stamps: Sleigh Ride, Classy Clydesdale - High Hopes
Patterned Paper: Sleigh Ride (Bo Bunny), All Bundled Up (Carta Bella)
