Thank Ewe

For my card this week I decided to do a non - traditional thank you card , meaning using a some what non- traditional sentiment. I always love to have a few thank you cards in my stash so it is easy to pop one in the mail for a friend or family member.
"Posey's For You" is a fun stamp with it's fluffy ewe and posey's and when I found I had the Thank Ewe sentiment - it was perfect for a fun thank you ...er thank "ewe" card. This cutie just makes me smile and I hope it will make the recipient smile too!

I coloured this cutie with alcohol markers, did some shading with Prismacolor pencils and cut it out using a pleated circle die. I thought patterned paper from Echo Park and Lawn Fawn were perfect for this stamp.
The paper was cut to size and glued to my card stock. Next I cut a circle out of card stock to put behind my image. I didn't want the "bulk" I would have gotten if I put it on top of my patterned paper and card stock so once it was in position, I marked it with a pencil and then cut it to fit snuggly against the card stock. I cut my sentiment banner with a stitched banner die and stamped it so it was centered under my stamp.
A banner with a heart, enamel dots and some gingham ribbon finish off my card.

Hello Butterfly

I love butterflies! They are one of my favourite parts of spring and summer.
I love to sit on my porch and watch them flutter around and land on the hanging baskets I always have hanging there.
I have learned that there are different flower types that attract butterflies so I am going to see if I can find some baskets with some of those types of flowers for my porch this year.

I made a card to celebrate butterflies with "Left Butterfly" and "Katie's Bouquet"

I created my scene by stamping three bouquets and the butterfly and coloured them with alcohol markers. Star Dust Stickles were added to the hearts on the wings.  I added some clouds using a cloud die, ink and a dauber and cut the bottom edge with a stitched scallop die.  Some fun gingham and heart patterned paper were perfect for this scene. After cutting the heart paper to size I cut out the word hello with a die. I cut it a second time in white and inset it into the paper. Next, I found the word friend in the size I wanted, masked it off with Post It Notes and stamped it using my Misti. Matching glitter ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Just Because

I don't know about you but I can never have too many Just Because and Sending Smiles type cards in my stash.
It makes it easy to grab a card and send it to a friend or family member who needs a pick me up or to know that I am thinking about them.

"Sweet Carlina" from Digi Doodle Studios is the star of the latest card to add to my stash.

I printed the stamp a little larger then I intended but it all worked out in the end. It is coloured with alcohol markers and I added some shading with Prismacolor pencils. Next I hand fussy cut her and went around the edges with a black marker to get any white I had missed. I added this sweetie to digital paper from DDS and Lawn Fawn. Some stitched clouds and a fun heart flower border helped me build a subtle scene. Enamel dots and ribbon finish off my card.

Live Life

This week I decided to  challenge myself. I wanted to use a "portion" of a larger stamp by masking it to "create" a new image. Masking a portion of a larger stamp gives me more ways to use a stamp I have purchased.

I chose "Fragrant Blooms" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps and masked off this cute snail and flowers.

After masking off the stamp and stamping only the portion I wanted to use, I coloured it with alcohol markers and Prisma Pencils and cut it out using a circle die. Next I cut a piece of white card stock to fit my card and added some ink splatters with matching ink to create a bit of a back ground. This was added to some gingham paper from MFT after I inked all of the edges with Distress ink.
I placed my stamp roughly where I wanted it on the card and with the help of my Misti stamped the sentiment. Some twine and sparkly enamel dots finish off my card.

Sentiment: Life In Bloom - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Fairy Garden

If April showers bring May flowers and fairies make a garden grow, then we should be all set in my neighbourhood.
We had a very wet April and May is starting out the same so that is sure to bring flowers. My neighbour and I also joke about having a garden fairy as my roses always do well when I really don't do anything with them and she has plants growing that haven't come up for years. We call our garden fairy Hilda who used to live in my neighbours home and had a way with plants

I decided "Lilly The Spring Fairy" is a fun way to pay tribute to our garden fairy "Hilda".

I coloured Lilly with alcohol markers, Prisma pencils for some shading, Nuvo Glitter drops for her wings and hand fussy cut her. I set her aside and created my background by blending inks from Stampin' Up and Ranger Distress Ink. I spritzed some water to help create a magical feel and added some Frantage around the edge. Next I cut out my heart flower border die and added some Frantage to some of the flowers to tie my card together. Some matching ribbon and hearts finish off my card.

Best Friends

This stamp drawn by the talented Crissy Armstrong has been on my wish list for forever so when it came out as a digital stamp I knew I needed to get it off my wish list once and for all.
There is something about this stamp.......for me there are no words. I find it so calming - maybe it's because it reminds me and my horse and the relationship we had. This stamp just makes my heart happy and I am glad I finally had time to colour it up.

I printed the stamp to the size I wanted and then coloured it with alcohol markers and Prismacolor pencils. I wanted to do a simple design to keep the focus on this gorgeous stamp. Paper from Simple Stories and Echo Park were perfect. A simple heart banner, cotton lace, wood horseshoe and gumdrops were the perfect pieces to finish off my card.
I decided not to include a sentiment on the front and will include it on the inside when I decide what event I will give it for.

Oops!

Picture it......a beautiful spring day, the sky is blue, the sun is out, the roads are dry and your bestie and her hubby have come for a visit.
Your own hubby has been itching to take his car our for a rip and the hubby's decided today was the perfect day for it. Hubby's car at the time, was set up to be raced on a track - it was loud and it literally shook the whole house when he started it.
The boys went out and had a good rip in the car and were telling us all about it. They were pretty pumped about their drive including a "little" squeal of the tires in town. It was all fun and games until this showed up in my driveway.......

Someone complained about the noise........but thankfully the nice officer only gave him a warning. Hubby literally walked back in the house and said "Oops!" and this experience became the inspiration for my card.

After colouring the stamp with alcohol markers I hand fussy cut it and ran a black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. I didn't intend to fussy cut it - my original thoughts on card design went sideways so I had to regroup. I added some silver gel pen to the ring around the headlights.

I added this fun stamp to a banner die and paper from Cartopia from Carta Bella. The die cut houses are cut out of a couple different dies I have and added the town element from my story. Some twine and gumdrops finish off my card.
