Happy

I hope you have enjoyed meeting the Darling Diva's from High Hopes this month. For me it has been a challenge to choose a favourite because I like them all!
I have one last cutie to share with you this month - tomorrow is a new month - Yikes!! My post for today features Ella and Chi Chi.  I walk my dog twice a day and I love this time of year. My neighbours are all planting flowers and it makes me happy to walk around and see all of the different colours combinations people come up with. My dog Moe often has his nose in the air like Chi Chi smelling the fresh scents of Spring!

I decided to use some bright, fun paper from the Bo Bunny Believe collection - the colours remind me of Spring. I only used half of the Happy Thoughts sentiment - Ella sure does look happy doesn't she?!
The image is coloured with alcohol markers and cut out using a stitched oval die. A few flowers with some Crystal Stickles in the middle for a bit of bling and a sparkly gumdrop finish off my card. I also added some bling to her earring and bracelet with some Silver Wink of Stella.

Best Dirt

For this week's post, I gave myself a challenge. The challenge was to pick a sentiment and find a way to use it in a way that wasn't "normal".

It is gardening season so I picked a gardening themed sentiment and went through my stash to see what stamp I had to match the theme. I had quite a few gardening type stamps but I didn't want a "typical" stamp......and then I came across "Gordon Groundhog".......

Now, growing up we often had groundhogs dig holes in our yard and every year my Dad waged war on them......I don't remember him ever winning the battle but I do wonder if one of them was as cute as Gordon if he may have backed off a bit?
Gordon just makes me chuckle and he brings out a bit of the dry, cheeky sense of humour I've been known to have

Gordon is coloured with alcohol markers and cut out using a stitched rectangle die. The image didn't quite come to the edges of my die so I coloured some more dirt and used my Tuxedo Black Memento marker to draw the dirt line to the ends. I decided on a fairly simple layout for this card - I wanted Gordon to be the star of the show! Some patterned paper run through a polka dot embossing folder added the perfect texture. A Spade embellishment with a bit of twine and gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Gordon Groundhog  - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: The Best Dirt - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper:  I Love Family - Echo Park

Beautiful Day

Happy Wednesday OCS Fans!

I had the honour of meeting up with a fellow DT member this past Saturday. It is was awesome to be able to meet up, have a coffee and catch up. We traded some fun gifty things and since we met at OCS, of course we had to do a little shopping. "N" is my favourite shopping stalker and it is easy to chat and shop in the relaxed environment that Lora has created in the OCS store.

Ginger reminds me of "N" with her dark hair and her beautiful smile - she is holding a coffee cup so...what's not to love about this cutie!?!

My card layout is based on this month's challenge sketch. After colouring my image with alcohol markers I cut her out using a stitched rectangle die. After playing around to find the perfect patterned paper combination I cut each piece out to match the sketch. The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a stitch and piercing mark die. A flower, some "greenery" and glittery gumdrops were the finishing touches for my card.

Little Missy's Smile

Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans!

For this week's post, I would like to introduce you to an older High Hopes stamp called "Little Missy". I think she is totally adorable and would be perfect for a card for sooo many different occasions.

My card layout is based on this month's challenge sketch (below). I love using sketches when my creative brain is in hibernation - it definitely gives it a kick start!

I started by cutting a tag out  and cardstock background with my Cricut and stamping my image. After colouring her with alcohol markers I used a white gel pen to add some fun polka dots to her dress and bow. The sentiment was cut out and a crystal was added to the dot on the "i". Some twine, a flower and glittery gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Little Missy  - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Journal Card and Bracket Insert die set - YNS
Patterned Paper:  Hello Baby - Simple Stories
Tuxedo Black ink - MementoMisti, White Gelly Roll pen, Best Glue Ever - ScraPerfect, Ocean Mist Glittered Gumdrops, flower - Prima, fishtail banner die - YNS, Cyrstazzi crystal, George and Basic shapes - Cricut

CAS Smiles

Welcome Back OCS Fans!

This week I decided to challenge myself just to shake things up a little in my crafty world. I have alot of patterned paper - yes it's an addiction - but I also have alot of little pieces -you know the ones that are trimmed off an edge of a sheet and you just can't bear to throw it out - gasp!

My challenge was to use some of these smaller pieces as well as create a CAS (clean and simple) card. Double whammy and challenge accepted! I decided that "Blossom" from the new Darling Diva's release at High Hopes would be perfect for my card.

To start this card I cut out my white background using a stitched square die. The stitched scallop border edge was cut next using a die. I used my Misti to place the stamp and sentiment in the perfect spot and inked away - LOVE my Misti! After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I added the patterned paper edge.  I used a brown marker to add some freckles to puppy's cheeks and some sparkly Stickles on the heart and dress collar give me a touch of bling.
All of this was mounted on some cardstock and voila - double challenge met...I think...

Card Recipe
Stamps: Blossom  - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Sending Smiles - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Spring - Echo Park
Tuxedo Black ink - MementoMisti, Crystal Stickles, white gelly roll pen, My Creative Time die, Stitched Rectangle die - YNS, brown marker to add puppy freckles

Dropping By Kitty

Welcome back Whimsy Fans! It is the 15th of the month so it's time for a new challenge at Whimsy Stamps.

This month's challenge is Anything Goes - with an optional twist of flowers. You can choose to play along with the twist or not it's totally up to you and can use and Whimsy stamp, Digi stamp or paper that you like to play along.

My inspiration post features "Kitty Balloon" along with some digital paper and enamel dots. All the links are provided below.

My bestie is a cat lover and her Birthday is coming up soon so this is the perfect stamp for her don't you think?
After colouring my stamp twice with alcohol markers, I fussy cut them using my trusty cuticle scissors. The digital paper was printed and I stamped and paper pieced the balloon and bow for both images.
The main stamp image is popped up with foam dots to add some dimension and a few enamel dots (my fav) finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Kitty Balloon - Whimsy Stamps
Patterned Paper: April Showers, Mint Green Dark - Whimsy Digital Papers

There's Something Beautiful

Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there!

I have had this digital Stamp called "Beautiful Day" for quite awhile and I have been just waiting to colour her up. This adorable young lady is from Miss Daisy digital stamps and is one of my favourite stamps! I have used digital paper on this one too - so fun!

I started by printing off my stamp and colouring her with alcohol markers, and cut her out using a stitched rectangle die. Next I printed off the digital paper I wanted to use, cut it to the sizes I needed and mounted it on cardstock. The sentiment is from the Beautiful Day sayings set and was printed and cut out using a stitched oval die. I added some clouds with baby blue ink and a dauber. Some crochet lace and gumdrops finish off my card.

Stamp: Beautiful Day - Miss Daisy Stamps
Sentiment: Beautiful Day Sayings - Miss Daisy Stamps
Patterned Paper: We Are 3 Miss Daisy Collection digital paper

You Got This!

I can't believe it's Thursday again already and my turn to post some inspiration for you!

This week I am having a hard time keeping a straight face while I was colouring and fussy cutting "Are We There Yet?". These two just make me giggle!

Add to that, my sister in law has decided she wants a tandem bike so trying to figure out which one she would be and which one would be my brother just adds to the humour for me.

I also chose to use the "Don't Worry" sentiment with this.......I mean, we all need a little encouragement from our friends once and awhile don't we?

I coloured these two up with alcohol markers and then started fussy cutting them. It was honestly one of those ..uh oh, what was I thinking moments but I grabbed my xacto knife and cuticle scissors and kept going - you can't take back the first cut after all! These two buddies are popped up with pop dots too.

I had some cloud background paper made from another project so I cut it out using a stitched square die and added some cement for a sidewalk, grass and a fence to create a little scene.
The sentiment was stamped, cut and mounted on matching cardstock. All of this fun was put on some bright, fun paper from Doodlebug and finished off with my favourite - gumdrops.

Create!

I am still having way too much fun playing with the new Darling Diva's release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps! This week "Gemma" our little artist was the focus of my creativity.

I don't know about anyone else, but after a long day there is nothing like heading for my craft room, turning on the music and pulling out the markers. I usually have to ignore the stink eye from my dog laying in the door way staring me down, but it is a relaxing way to end the day. I feel like Gemma might feel the same way...

I coloured sweet Gemma with alcohol markers and cut her out using a banner die. There is some clear sparkle pen on the big heart and flower but it's hard to see.
The card layout is fun to do. The middle is plastic! You form your card base and cut the middle out, glue in some plastic (today I used a page refill) and glue it on. I used the Best Glue Ever (link below) - it dries super fast, works on plastic and you don't need much of it. The sentiment on the front was created on my computer, and some ribbon and sparkly gumdrops finish off the front.

The inside is simply some white cardstock trimmed with matching light blue cardstock, stamped with a mini heart stamp using matching ink and a sentiment.

Stamps: Gemma  - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Get Your Happy On - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Dream

Happy Sunday Whimsy fans! I hope you are having a nice, relaxing day.

I have been playing with the "Butterfly Friends" digital stamp by Crissy Armstrong, one of my favourites.
I have had this one half coloured since it was released in March but I was "stuck" on the colours and layout so I left it ...until now.
This morning (way too early I might add) the creative train came rushing into the building and things just kind of fell into place. Anyone else ever had that happen?

After completing my colouring with alcohol markers, I cut out my stamp using a stitched square die. I went in afterwards and used some baby blue ink and a cloud die cut to add some clouds in the background.
Some corner dies, lace ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card

Birthday Wishes

Happy Thursday!

I'm back with a fun birthday card I made for a very special young lady in my life. I don't want to say who because she will see it when I post it on Facebook.

This young lady is a tom boy at heart - kinda like me when I was younger. Not afraid to get rough and tumble if she has to and will only wear a dress when she has to.  She loves hedgehogs and chocolate so I think the image I chose for her is perfect.

After colouring up my stamp with alcohol markers, I cut it out with a stitched square die. The sentiment was stamped and cut out using a stitched oval die - I like the texture these dies add to an image.

Some patterned paper from Photo Play was perfect for my layout and colour pallette. I love a little bling on my cards so this time I added some Stickles to the cupcake icing and some glossy accents to the cherry. Some twine and sparkly gumdrops finish off my card.

Stamps: Kovu's Birthday  - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Love and Hugs

Happy Wednesday OCS Fans!

I hope you are enjoying the "Darling Divas" new release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

This week I had some fun playing with "GiGi". She is really fun to colour with her big heart and big poofie hair! And of course girl's gotta have bling so there is some of that added as well!

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I cut it out using a classic circle die. I stamped part of the sentiment I wanted to use and cut it out using a stitched rectangle die.
The flower patterned paper shape was cut out using my Cricut - it's nice to have a machine do the cutting for you! Some Diamond stickles were added to her bow, her shoe straps and the heart and sleeve patches (kinda hard to see). Ribbon from my stash and my fav - gumdrops finish off my card

Your Umbrella

Welcome to Day 2 of the new release in the Whimsy Digital Shop.

We have had an extra wet Spring so far where I live. It seems to rain the most during the middle of the week thankfully - so far the weekends have been beautiful!

The rain sure made it easy for me to want to play with "Penguin's Rainy Day" from the new release! I also wanted to make a fun card to send to my best friend who is having a rough time and needs a pick me up.

I started by printing off my stamp to the size I wanted and  colouring it with alcohol markers. Some white polka dots were added to the umbrella and his boots. I also added some to the stripe on the ducks hat just for fun. The umbrella handle is coloured with a silver gel pen, it's kinda hard to see.

The sentiment was set to the perfect size for my layout and printed on matching patterned paper.
Some pieces of Honeycomb pattern added some texture to my card. Ribbon and enamel dots finish it off
