I.C.U.

I have been taking a break from card making over the last few weeks. Between family health issues I had help with and making a ton of Christmas cards, I needed a break. I wanted a clear head and a fresh start going in to a new year of making cards and I decided a humorous get well card was a good way to start! Hoping this card featuring Get Well Set from Art Impressions helps someone not only feel better but brings a smile.

After stamping on alcohol marker friendly paper, I coloured the stamps using Copic Sketch markers and cut it out using a rectangle square. I stamped again on masking paper and stenciled the brick background. Patterned paper from Honey Bee Stamps and Simple Stories were the perfect combination for this and I cut the notebook edge with a die from My Creative Time dies. Next I cut a tab die, stamped the top sentiment and glued it down. While I had the ink out I stamped the second sentiment, cut it and mounted it on matching card stock. All of the edges were inked with London Fog Memento ink before gluing them down. Some ribbon and enamel dots finish off my card.

Get Well Soon!

This month the One Crazy Stamper design team will be using a variety of High Hopes Rubber Stamps to go along with our Anything Goes Challenge theme.

I was going through my card stash and realized I don't have very many Get Well Soon cards. It is always when we are least expecting it that we need this type of card so I decided to use super cute "Valerie Nurse Angel" to create a card for just this reason.

This 4x4 size card will go perfectly with a get well gift and was inspired by a crafty friend of mine who's name starts with "C".

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers, I cut fussy it out using my trusty manicure scissors. Now, I have noticed that some nurses are wearing print scrub tops to work so I decided to paper piece Valerie's nurse coat to add some fun. I also added sparkle to her wings using a clear sparkle pen.

The sentiment was stamped in three separate words (it comes as on long sentiment) to a piece of patterned paper and added to a die cut clip board - a nurse would have a clip board to record things so I thought it fit perfectly with this image.
I cut some matching card stock and ran it through a heart embossing folder to add some texture.
And since she is repairing a bear who has come un-stitched I hand stitched some stitches on the card with embroidery floss to finish off my card.

I...C....U....

I had a little bit of time to play in my craft room this afternoon. I made a card to include in the latest challenge at Art Impresssions - "Layer It On Me" (link below).

I love when I have stamp sets that help me get in touch with my cheeky side...pardon the pun!

I started by colouring my image with alcohol markers and fussy cutting him out. He is popped up with pop dots. I added a layer of cardstock, a layer of patterned paper, a polaroid die and file folder, the word notes and the sentiment. My card is finished off with some grey gumdrops.
