Sparkle and Cheer Friends

I can't believe Christmas is in 3 days.......3 DAYS!!! Am I the only one who feels like this year went by at warp speed?!? This month the High Hopes design team has been sharing winter themed cards and for me, Christmas and New Year's are part of winter so for my final card of the year I have decided to do a card to wish you all - my followers, High Hopes fans and followers, and all my friends and family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The design team will be taking next week off to spend time with family and friends and we will be back to regular posting in January.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone from myself and "Polar Friends" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

I started this card by cutting a piece of water colour paper to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" card base and did some ink blending with Distress Ink and Stampin' Up inks. I splattered some Unicorn's Hair acrylic paint on the ink (hard to see in the picture) to add some extra sparkle and shine.
When the paper was dry, I used a fireworks die to cut out the fireworks and glued the paper down to a piece of card stock. I set it aside and after stamping these friends on alcohol marker friendly paper I coloured them with Copic markers, added Star Dust Stickles to their scarves and hat and hand fussy cut them leaving a thin white edge.

Next, I cut fireworks out of white, red and green glitter paper and inset them in to the background. I added a few extra stars around the fireworks just for fun. White card stock cut with a curvy die helped me make some snowy hills. To create the sentiment, I masked off the top portion of the sentiment, stamped it on matching card stock with Versa Mark and added some white WOW embossing powder.

After heating it with my heat gun, I let it cool and then added white ink around the edge to help it stand out a little bit better. The stamp was added with some foam tape to add some dimension and matching glitter dots in the corners finish off my card.

Penguin Christmas

Oh my goodness! Have you seen the It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas release? So many fun, cute stamps that are perfect to help get your Christmas/winter card mojo going!

I have a lot of people who love penguins in my life so "Penguin Presents" was a perfect stamp for me to get to create a card with. I have a hard time remembering from year to year which stamp I used on who's card so to have a few new penguin stamps to choose from is perfect in my world. <smile>

I chose to do my take on a Front Flap style card.

I stamped my image, coloured it with Copic markers, added some polka dots to his scarf with a white gel pen  and hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white edge. I set him aside and chose some patterned paper from Photo Play to match. I created my card base by cutting some matching card stock to a 5.5" x 5.5" size.

Next, I cut a quarter of an inch off the outside of the top piece so the plaid background which is actually the inside of the card would show on the front. What I didn't think about is that by doing that, the card actually won't sit to be displayed because there isn't anything there for it it sit on. I decided to continue with my take on the design because I have a few people in my life who display their card laying down - phew! I cut some snowflake paper for the top of the card and added some ribbon and a sentiment. Then I measured my stamp to figure out how big my "flap" needed to be, cut it and added a snowy hill, a snowflake border and my stamped image, glued it to the card base and added the plaid patterned paper.

To finish off the card I stamped a sentiment on the inside on a piece of white card stock and added some enamel dots to the front.

Penguin Cheer

I have a lot of friends and family who love penguins so I can never have too many penguin cards on hand. Thankfully High Hopes stamps has lots to choose from! Penguin Earmuffs is perfect for one of the many Christmas cards I will need for the penguin lovers in my life.
I also used two snowflakes from High Hopes to create my Embossed Ink Resist background for this CAS (clean and simple) card.

I have wanted to try an Embossed Ink Resist background for awhile now so this week I took the time to try it out. After stamping my snowflakes I added my embossing powder and melted them with my heat gun. Next I grabbed some distress inks and did some blending - boy did I get inky! but it was so much fun!
Next, I coloured this adorable penguin with alcohol markers and hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white edge. It is very hard to see in the picture but his ear muffs are coloured with sparkle pen and are very sparkly in real life - so hard to capture that with a camera. The sentiment is a "verse" and for this one I masked off the sentiment to only show the lines I wanted. It is great to be able to mask a stamp and get different uses out of it isn't it?
Some matching sparkly gumdrops finish off my CAS card.
