Sending You Hugs

I am a hugger. I love to give hugs and receive them but there are times when I can't physically be there to give a hug so I love to send a hug in a card just as much! "Hannah's Heart" from High Hopes is the perfect stamp for a hug in a card. How cute is she hugging her heart - love the patch on it!

I stamped Hannah onto alcohol marker friendly paper, coloured her with Copic markers and cut her out with a pleated lace square die from Gina Marie Designs. I combined patterned paper from two different companies to create my card design and added some smaller heart pieces to the sides. I masked the sentiment out of a larger sentiment and put it sideways for something different. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Mother's Day Fairy

Anyone else see a stamp they just have to have because it is so versatile and can be used for soooo many different occasions?

That is how I felt when I saw the "Fairy On A Leaf" stamp in the new "This & That" release at High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I think she will be perfect for Birthday, Thinking of You and Just Because cards and more but I have chosen to use her on a Mother's Day card this time. How sweet is this little fairy?!!

I stamped this sweet fairy on alcohol marker friendly paper and coloured her with Copic markers. I cut her out with a square die and used a corner punch to round the corners to help soften the feel of the card.

I love hand fussy cutting my stamps and this card is no exception....except there is a twist. After I cut the stamp using a square die, I laid a circle die over top of the image (I chose one slightly smaller then the image) and lightly traced the inside of the circle with a pencil. I cut a small hole into each section to get started, then cut around the inside of the pencil line and around the outside of the image leaving a small white edge and mounted it on matching card stock. This leaves some of the stamp edges on the outside of the circle instead of completely cutting the whole stamp.

Next I cut patterned paper from Honey Bee and Lawn Fawn and mounted them on card stock to fit the 5.5"x 5.5" card base, glued them down and added the stamped image. For a bit of interest I cut a thin square to put behind the stamp. Some cotton lace ribbon, a stamped sentiment and enamel dots finish off the card.

Just Motorin' By

I am having some fun with a humorous birthday card I created for my younger brother (shhh don't tell him). He is celebrating a milestone birthday (he's joining the 50 club) and is also the "teaser, joker" in the family so when I saw Walker Walter in the Summer 2020 new release I had to get him for my brother's card.

I can't lie, I giggled a lot when this card started to come together in my head......and even more so when it started to come together for real. I decided putting Walter on a slider was perfect for this card.

After colouring Walker Walter with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut him leaving a thin white border and set him aside. I decided some grey wood patterned paper with a touch of blue was perfect for the base of my masculine themed card. The light grey sponged look paper fit perfectly in to my plan and after cutting it to size, I used a slider die to cut the "track".

Some cloudy blue sky paper in the background helped complete my mini scene and I added some extra clouds just for fun. This piece is popped up using foam pop dots so the slider will move. Next, I cut the balloons and although it is hard to see on the photo, there is some clear sparkle pen on them just to add a smidge of sparkle.

I put the balloons on an angle so when he is moved across the card the balloons are "flowing" with him. Some twine and enamel dots finish off my card.

It Ain't Summer Til.....

According to the calendar it is officially summer and the weather where I live has been summer like - hot and humid!!!
Beachball Betty from the new Summer 2020 release (click here for to see the full release)  is at the beach and enjoying a beautiful summer day and she has some advice for us all.
I love her sass! and I think I better listen to her advice and find some sand to stick my toes in to when it is safe to do so of course

I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to create an A2 size card instead of my usual square card. Some striped patterned paper was perfect for my summer design.
I coloured the stamp with alcohol markers and then trimmed the paper leaving it long. The sentiment was stamped directly under the stamp and then I trimmed the whole thing to fit my card front and added some matching card stock.
Adorable flip flops, a sun and cloud dies and some enamel dots finish off my card.

Hang In There

The design team is doing Anything Goes this week on the blog so I thought I would have some fun and monkey around a little!

We all need some encouragement or to know someone is thinking of us once and a while so I decided that Monkey Mike would be perfect to help not only bring some encouragement but also a smile to someone. I think he is pretty cute and he makes me giggle!

I tackled the jungle background first, colouring it with alcohol markers and then set it aside. Next I coloured up Monkey Mike and hand fussy cut him. I found some matching plaid patterned paper and cut it and matching cardstock to fit my A2 size. Next, I created a cardstock frame by using two different sizes of rectangle dies and added it on top of the background with pop dots.
Then, I took our handsome Monkey Mike and hung him from the frame by his tail. He has a pop dot behind him too because he kinda tilted sideways when I hooked him up by tail.
The sentiment was stamped and cut out with a fish tail banner die and a few enamel dots finish off my card.

Home For Christmas

Welcome back High Hopes fans!

My post for this week is one more Christmas in July card featuring "Festive Wreath".
I love driving around and looking at Christmas decorations. This wreath had a country feel to me so I pictured it on a fence.
Where I live, it is very common for people to hang wreaths on the cedar rail fence they have near their homes.
It is also common to see a tractor out in the middle of a field covered in Christmas lights...... but I personally love the wreaths.

I started by colouring my stamp with alcohol markers and hand fussy cutting it with manicure scissors. I added some Stickles to the beads and clear Spectrum Sparkle pen to the bow.
Some glittery snow on the fence and in the blue sky behind add just the right amount of bling.
I added a silver brad to the fence so it looked like the nail head used to hand the wreath.
Some sparkly Stickles in the hearts with the sentiment help tie everything together.

Sentiment: All Hearts - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Tiny Check - MFT, Watercolour Wishes - Lawn Fawn

You Got This!

I can't believe it's Thursday again already and my turn to post some inspiration for you!

This week I am having a hard time keeping a straight face while I was colouring and fussy cutting "Are We There Yet?". These two just make me giggle!

Add to that, my sister in law has decided she wants a tandem bike so trying to figure out which one she would be and which one would be my brother just adds to the humour for me.

I also chose to use the "Don't Worry" sentiment with this.......I mean, we all need a little encouragement from our friends once and awhile don't we?

I coloured these two up with alcohol markers and then started fussy cutting them. It was honestly one of those ..uh oh, what was I thinking moments but I grabbed my xacto knife and cuticle scissors and kept going - you can't take back the first cut after all! These two buddies are popped up with pop dots too.

I had some cloud background paper made from another project so I cut it out using a stitched square die and added some cement for a sidewalk, grass and a fence to create a little scene.
The sentiment was stamped, cut and mounted on matching cardstock. All of this fun was put on some bright, fun paper from Doodlebug and finished off with my favourite - gumdrops.

Mother's Day

Happy Thursday High Hopes Fans!

Spring is in the air and as I type this post it has been feeling like Spring.....until today! As I am typing this, Mother Nature has decided to bless us with some snowsqualls and a special weather statement for the coming week for a snow storm.

The perfect time in my mind to head for my craft room and get creative!
My post today features "Sunday's Best". How daper is this cutie in his dress shirt and pants!
I chose to do a different take on a Mother's Day card - I guess it's kind of masculine and in my mind perfect for a boy to give his mom. Afterall, boys need cards to give to right?

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I restamped his shirt on some plaid patterned paper and fussy cut it out, I did the same for his bow tie.
I used a sketch I love from One Crazy Stamper for my card layout (below).
It is hard to see in the photo but I added some clear Spectrum Sparkle Pen to the flowers for just a hint of glitter. Some corner dies and gumdrops (my fav) finish off my card.

He Lives!

We are having some fun this month on the High Hopes blog. Okay we have fun all the time but it is an Anything Goes month so we get to play with any stamp we want.

Easter is coming and will be here before we know it! My card this week features "He Lives" and the "He Is Risen" sentiment.

Inside

I'm not sure why but this image screamed CAS layout to me. I started by colouring my image with alcohol markers and cut it out with a stitched rectangle die. I cut matching purple cardstock and another piece of white cardstock - this piece was run through a polka dot embossing folder to give some texture.

The inside is the same colours of cardstock cut with a stitched rectangle die and then the sentiment was stamped. A flower and some twine finish off my card.

Stamps: He Lives (R057 - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: He Is Risen (H137)

Yertle's Belated Birthday

Welcome back OCS fans! Happy Wednesday!

I am having way too much fun playing with the new Party Time release from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

This week I am playing with "Yertle Turtle Birthday" - I LOVE his name - and the "Belated Birthday" sentiment.

Poor Yertle, he is a turtle and moves VERY slowly so he missed the Birthday party. He looks a little sheepish about missing the party but also very happy to bring belated wishes.

After colouring my stamp with alcohol markers I fussy cut it with my trusty manicure scissors, added some Stickles and a clear sparkle pen for some bling and set it aside to dry.
While my image was drying, I cut a piece of white cardstock and a cloud die, grabbed some light blue ink and a dauber and created my sky background. A picket fence and some grass hills finish off my background scene for Yertle.
Patterned paper pieces and cardstock were cut to size to fit my 5.5" x 5.5" base and everything was glued down. The sentiment was stamped and mounted, a ribbon bow added and some enamel dots to finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Yertle Turtle Birthday (TT109) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Belated Birthday (GG013)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps

If I Could

                          Happy Wednesday High Hopes Fans!

The party is continuing at High Hopes Rubber Stamps with their new Party Time Release. I hope you've had a chance to pop by and check out all of the fun Birthday themed stamps and sentiments!

My post features "Pretty Gladolias" and the "Love & Laughter" sentiment. We have had very little to no sun over the last few weeks and flowers make my heart happy so I decided this stamp was perfect to make me smile - I hope it helps bring a smile to you too! It also makes me wish for Spring but that is another whole story

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers then fussy cut it with my trusty manicure scissors. The sentiment was stamped on cardstock after cutting out a square with a stitched die. A honeycomb pattern die cut was added to spice up my layout a bit but I really wanted to keep the layout on this one quite simple.
Some crystal hearts from my stash finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Pretty Gladolias (TT110) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Love & Laughter (LL007)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Hugs & Kisses

I hope you are enjoying the design teams incredible makes with the new Live Love Laugh release from High Hopes!

This week I got to play with "Betsy Loves Barney". I had a friend that grew up on a pig farm and we used to have to do the chores every day, twice a day.... and every once and awhile we had to clean out the pens.

Sorry, but I don't remember seeing any pigs in real life that are this cute!!!

I coloured my stamp with alcohol markers then cut it out using a stitched oval die. The background oval was cut out with my Cricut......I wasn't going to use it at first because technically it didn't fit properly. But, I kind of like the look of having some colour peaking out on the ends only for something different so I decided to use it.
I added my image to patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket and MME. The sentiment was stamped on some matching cardstock and cut to size. Some corner dies, ribbon and gold heart brads finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Betsy Loves Barney (TT071) - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Hugs & Kisses (GG010)- High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper:  The Sweetest Thing - MME, Tea For Two - Cosmo Cricket
