Live Life

This week I decided to  challenge myself. I wanted to use a "portion" of a larger stamp by masking it to "create" a new image. Masking a portion of a larger stamp gives me more ways to use a stamp I have purchased.

I chose "Fragrant Blooms" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps and masked off this cute snail and flowers.

After masking off the stamp and stamping only the portion I wanted to use, I coloured it with alcohol markers and Prisma Pencils and cut it out using a circle die. Next I cut a piece of white card stock to fit my card and added some ink splatters with matching ink to create a bit of a back ground. This was added to some gingham paper from MFT after I inked all of the edges with Distress ink.
I placed my stamp roughly where I wanted it on the card and with the help of my Misti stamped the sentiment. Some twine and sparkly enamel dots finish off my card.

Stamp: Fragrant Blooms - High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Lattice Birthday Flowers

Every year my Mom asks me to make a card for one of her dear friends. Okay honestly there is more then one friend that she requests a card for but this particular friend is always over the moon excited to receive a handmade card.
It makes me happy to know that my Mom takes such pleasure in sharing a card with someone who appreciates it so much.

I have known this friend of my Mom's all my life. She has a huge personality, is kind, caring, full of life and is always dressed to perfection. She is so fun!!
This year the request was flowers and her favourite colours are yellow and pink. In my mind, the request made the Lovely Lattice stamp from Stampin' Up the perfect stamp choice.

I chose to colour this pretty stamp with Prismacolor Premium Pencils and after colouring hand fussy cut it leaving a thin white line. Watercolor paper seemed to be the best fit to put behind this new lattice die I recently added to my collection. I wanted to keep my paper subdued to keep the focus on the flowers. I added some sparkle around the lattice edge with Stickles, stamped the sentiment and added a few gumdrops to finish it off.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Lovely Lattice - Stampin' Up!
Sentiment: Happy Birthday Script - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Watercolor Wash Brights - MFT

Lattice Background die - Gina Marie Designs, Diamond Stickles, gumdrops - YNS

Prismacolor Pencils: Spanish, Canary, Lemon Yellow, Pink, Blush, Deco Pink, White, Olive, Apple, Spring Green, 20% Cool Grey

Thinking Of You

I don't know about you, but I like to have a Thinking of You card or two in my stash.
I never know when I will have a friend or family member who will go through a hard time or need a pick me up. For this card I used the "Lovely Lattice" stamp from Stampin' Up! I love the delicate feminine feel to this stamp and can see myself using it a lot!

After colouring the stamp with Prismacolor pencils I cut it out using a stitched rectangle frame. I stamped my sentiment directly on to the die cut and added it to some simple card stock layers. Some matching gumdrops finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: Lovely Lattice - Stampin' Up!
Sentiment: Everyday Mini Sentiments - Whimsy Stamps

Stitched Rectangle die - YNS, Lavendar gumdrops - YNS

Prismacolor Pencils: Prussian, Kelly and Apple green, Golden Rod, Spanish Orange, Canary Yellow, Black Grape, Violet Lilac

Winter Roses Birthday

I am so excited to finally have time to colour some flowers! It has decided to be winter where I live - it supposed to feel like -30 by the morning and it's snowing so it is a perfect day to pull out my Prismacolor pencils and colour some winter roses. Roses are my favourite flower and just make me happy!

I need some Birthday cards so my colouring practice is perfect to make a few cards to add to my stash. You can never have too many on hand!

I started by colouring my flowers with Prismacolour Premium Pencils and then hand fussy cut them leaving a thin white edge.
I chose my patterned papers and cardstocks and cut them to the size I needed. Both of these cards are 5.5" x 5.5". Next I roughly placed where the flower would go on my layout and cut a circle and oval shape. My Misti was perfect for placing my sentiments in the perfect spots!
Some pearls and enamel dots finish off my cards.

Card Recipes
Stamp: Winter Roses Background - Whimsy Stamps
Sentiments: Everyday Mini Moments, Every Day Moments (retired) - Whimsy Stamps
Patterned Paper: Lullaby - Pebbles, Wood and Notebook - Simple Stories
Enamel dots - Gina Marie Designs, Pearls - Recollections, circle and oval dies - Spellbinders

Prismacolor Pencils:Yellowed and Spanish Orange, Sunburst and Canary Yellow, White, Olive, Apple and Spring Green, Chartruse, Henna, Clay Rose, Blush Pink Deco Peach, White, Prussian, Kelly and Apple Green

Happy Anniversary

At the end of April my parents celebrated their 50th Anniversary. My siblings and I planned lots of surprises for them throughout the day including pink flamingos in their front yard! They have received their card so I can share it now

One of my tasks was to create their card. I wanted to include flowers and one of Mom's favourite colours - purple. I also wanted to include something for my Dad which is where the wood comes in. Since his retirement he has been dabbling in wood working so the wood paper is perfect to include him.

The inside included a special note from all their "Kids" which they loved.

I wanted to use the flowers on the With Deepest Sympathy stamp but the sentiment didn't fit. I grabbed my post it notes and strategically masked off the sentiment and stamped the flowers. The sentiment was another test in masking and placement as it is actually a long sentiment not stacked like I have done it.
I sooo love my Misti!

After holding my breath and stamping, I coloured the flowers with alcohol markers and cut it out. I added some stickles to not only the balls around the flowers but also in some of the white space around the stamp.
Some wood paper in the background, inked edges and some twine finish off my card.

Card Recipe
Stamp: With Deepest Sympathy -  High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Sentiment: Happy Aniversary - High Hopes Rubber Stamps
Patterned Paper: Sage and Grace - Kaisercraft

Tuxedo Black Memento ink, Misti, London Fog ink - Memento, Crystal Stickles, twine - American Crafts

Country Garden

My final my favourite thing to share with you this month is flowers.

My Grandmother was phenomenal with putting together bright coloured flowers in our flower beds. My job was to follow her as she planted with the "magic" bucket to water the flowers after they were planted. The "magic" made the water blue.......such a fun child hood memory! As an adult I know what turned the water blue........but I still like to pretend I didn't know

I think Country Garden is the perfect stamp to use to share.......flowers.

I have another favourite thing to share and that is country colours. Dusty rose and what I call a grey blue are some of my favourite colours. After colouring my stamp, I cut it out using a stitched rectangle die. Some paper from Julia Nutting and MFT were perfect. A white picket fence, cotton lace bow and some gumdrops finish off my card.
I decided to keep the layout quite simple and will add the sentiment to the inside of the card when I have an occasion to use it.
